state which you are, BUT you also have to post your political compass scores so we have some sort of notion of what you mean by liberal or moderate. :) (It will be interesting to see who claims a label but disagrees with their spot on the compass.)

http://politicalcompass.org/

I am a liberal and my scores are:

Economic Left/Right: -9.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.03

I have moved to the southwest quite a bit over the years. :)

1. I did my PC a while ago:
Economic Left/Right: -9.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.41

The only way it might have changed is more to the lower left. ;)

2. I'm falling off the southwest edge
but everybody here knew that, right?

Liberals have been the only political group to run the economy of this country so that it benefited the largest group of people. The rich got richer, albeit slowly, if they paid even minimal attention and didn't squander everything on a gold plated lifestyle. Workers had the best deal they've ever gotten. The economy prospered, money moving and working at all levels with restrictions on gamblers in banks and brokerages.

I don't see how anyone can be a conservative these days. Their dogma has been tried for 30 years and we have wealth concentration, depressed wages, one bubble market after another, fewer jobs to go around, and we've lost our manufacturing base. Conservative dogma has failed everyone. The rich are in the end game now, no more easy money to be made. They pretty much have all they can get without reinstituting slavery, something they don't want to do because they don't want to have to care for the rest of us that much and capital investment would force them to.

Conservative Democrats are just too damned stubborn to admit they've been wrong about anything and conservative Republicans have gone just plain nuts.

Given the heavy handed corporate control of the media in this country preventing education, I really can't see any way out of this soon. However, the future, if we're to have one, lies with the left. Liberals knew how to do things. Conservatives do not.

6. Nah. That's about where I was several years ago, and no one ever called me a moderate. :^) The
trouble is, even though we have the compass, you could have several people with the same scores who all are still pretty different. Some may be more lenient/stricter on topic X than topic Y and so forth. Short of screen-capping our entire tests to share with everyone it's still a bit vague. :)

10. green Catholic Western Marxist
but I reject the political compass as falsely endorsing the ideas of 1) a continuum of beliefs, making "centrist" a legitimate choice with a cohesive ideology (of "balance" between L and R) and 2) a separate libertarian-authoritarian axis (note that the distribution is strongly diagonal). Someone holding half Marxist and half conformist Protestant, or half populist anti-monopolist and half gold-bricks-and-shotguns-in-the-basement, or half welfare-bashing and half civil liberties, wouldn't be "moderate" but self-contradictory. The site is also pretty secretive about how it grades.

to me, on every issue there are discrete (Marxist, Democratic Socialist, Stalinist, sharia Islamist, socialist Islamist, Randroid, libertarian, anarchist, individualist conservative, religious conservative, conformist conservative) views: these can be totted up onto a radar chart

I'm -9.38:-7.54--ridiculous

21. Not sure.
Is there a difference?

If the scale changed and we stayed the same, we didn't move.

If the scale stayed the same and we moved, was there a reason?

Either way, I would say we are staying true.
