5. It seems to me that they weren't realistically likely to be able to repay the debt anyway
So there would have been no point in holding it over their heads in perpetuity. And certainly not after the catastrophe.

8. they have in the past... but there were signals that there were changes
in the tea leaves I was readying all over foreign press. Why I said in several places they were moving in that direction.

At least on this one I was right on the read of laves. I hate it, and I hope I am completely off on what the Roberts decision means from today.
