Only highly politicized people are aware of this decision and of its effects.

In this economy they are more worried about their jobs. You have to take off from work to go to a protest.

I have an MBA, work as a finance manager with a large telco, and am less radical than most of the folks here (God bless you all).

But this decision is absolutely outrageous and has to be vigorously challenged. I don't care if we need to march with teabaggers-- there have to be crowds of 100k or more to get enough attention to make a difference. The political establishment has to feel that there are a lot of people who care passionately to give more than lip service to this issue. The bar is very high for constitutional amendments, but that's what it might take.

My first protest in my life was January 2003 down in DC. (I was draft age in 1972 when Viet Nam was still going strong, too. Got my lottery number and Nixon abolished the draft) Froze my ass off.

This one is big and we all better mobilize any way we can. We fought all those wars in our history to preserve democracy. The 500,000 Americans we lost just in WW2 must not have died in vain. All we have to do is organize a grass roots protest effort that dwarfs America's efforts in WW2!

All us like minded lefties just got to do this in organized mass quantities. I got the drive to at least show up. I was the only sign carrying liberal at the Hartford Tea Party September 11, 2009.

I would prefer coming up with something REALLY EFFECTIVE. I just don't know what that could possibly be, though....

were there any protests? No. So much been perpetrated against the American citizenry and still no protests. I won't hold my breath.
