My 4-year old nephew just pointed at the TV and called Bush
"Monkey man" I think he got it from me always referring to him as "The chimp".

3. While I'm sure most will find it cute
I find it sad.

4-year olds don't need to be indoctrinated.

11. No
I'm not offended.

But I knew people who were proud of having their young children spout right-wing slurs the children couldn't possibly understand against Bill Clinton. I just found it sad.

It's making the child perform... well, like a trained monkey for the amusement of adults. And everybody does that with kids, but generally the kid is at least in on the joke. In this case, the kid has no idea WHY what he says is pleasing the adults - he just does it because it's well-received.

I just don't think 4-year olds need to be made politically-aware.

12. Nobody is making the child perform and as far as I know this is the first time
he has said that. Yes, he probably has overheard adults speak about Bush in a less than flattering way and maybe he did pick up on that. No, we arent' going to ask him to do it at parties. But thank you for your concern.

13. I agree.
I worry that kids today will not learn respect for the "office of the President". And I think that's really sad. The last 10 years have been filled with so much garbage...I don't think that is a good thing. Politics is too complex for children to understand. Honestly, how do you feel when you see a small child holding a poster supporting Bush,or anti-abortion sign, or a pro-war banner? I just think it's unfair to the children. Clearly calling him a name isn't nearly as bad, but I still think it's sad.

It's hard to keep this stuff from kids though. It really is. My children have often asked me why I don't like George Bush. They just pick up on this stuff.

10. My 4 1/2 year old grandson says "bad guy".
Like our illustrious president**, his 4 1/2 year old world is divided between 'good guys' and 'bad guys'.

At least he has his definitions straight.
BTW, I'm a 'good guy'.
He says so, and that's the end of it.
;-)
