He won by 4.8%. Republicans sometimes win in Democratic state and vice versa. The astonishment is getting old already.

1. Doesn't matter
I just turn it off. Let them enjoy their 15 minutes happiness - we still have control/power and need to use it accordingly.

2. Yup. And some are right here.

He squeaked by a lackluster candidate who ran a poorly orchestrated campaign. He made the right moves, she didn't.

Now let's move on and get something done or we'll suffer this pain all over again in November.

4. He's dreamy.
:puke:

Some local dumb asses barraged my e-mail on Wednesday gushing the above and how a liberal state, who had never elected a Republican to a major seat, had finally seen the light. I just typed Mitt Romney and hit reply all. So far no responses.

6. Wait until they run Joe Malone against Bill Delahunt
The guy looks like a deepwater flounder. No good looks at all.

Let's see if that knocks them out of their socks.

7. I don't know why republicans are so giddy
Brown didn't even use the word republican. They will get tossed just like the sorry dems that are getting tossed. People are pissed all the way around.

8. He won TED KENNEDY'S Seat
It doesn't matter if he won by 20 VOTES....

The fact remains that Massachusetts, the most reliably Democratic state in the union, elected a total unknown to replace Ted Kennedy, knowing full well what was at stake. There's no room to exaggerate how devastating this loss is for us. Money is pouring into the Republican war chests after Brown won, and the wimpy Dems in D.C. are so shellshocked they are totally paralyzed.

10. And if Ted Kennedy was running, Brown would still be tangled in the wreckage
but he wasn't.

Kennedy kept an iron grip on that seat for decades, and unfortunately Coakley was an all-around lame candidate.

She lost because of her own weaknesses, which Brown's campaign took full advantage of.

If you don't want a repeat later this year, don't offer any more Martha Coakleys.

11. Amen to that!
Kennedy's death hurts so much more now than last August. With all the sympathy and the Democrats' stronghold on the state, I can't believe they couldn't get their candidate, regardless of how lackluster her campaign was, over the top in such a crucial election. I can never, ever forgive Massachusetts' voters for what they did this week.

9. The numbers
2008:
1,104,284 McCain
1,891,083 Obama

2010
1,168,107 Brown + 64,000 more than McCain
1,058,682 Coakley - 830,000 less than Obama

The turnout for the conservative went up and the liberal vote declined by 40%.

That is amazing. Never happened before.

If the vote for the conservative went down by a similar percentage, the liberal would have won. But for the first time ever, in an off year election, the vote for the conservative actually increased.

That Brown is something. This trend continues and Jeb Bush will be the next president.

12. Win by 1, win by a 100....
...it's still a win and will have the same effect in the Senate.

13. He won by campaigning as an independent
His campaign literature, signs, bus = no references to Republican or GOP

THAT'S the significance here.
