People are acting as if Scott Brown won the election by 20 points

It doesn't matter if he won by 20 VOTES....

The fact remains that Massachusetts, the most reliably Democratic state in the union, elected a total unknown to replace Ted Kennedy, knowing full well what was at stake. There's no room to exaggerate how devastating this loss is for us. Money is pouring into the Republican war chests after Brown won, and the wimpy Dems in D.C. are so shellshocked they are totally paralyzed.

but he wasn't.

Kennedy kept an iron grip on that seat for decades, and unfortunately Coakley was an all-around lame candidate.

She lost because of her own weaknesses, which Brown's campaign took full advantage of.

If you don't want a repeat later this year, don't offer any more Martha Coakleys.

Kennedy's death hurts so much more now than last August. With all the sympathy and the Democrats' stronghold on the state, I can't believe they couldn't get their candidate, regardless of how lackluster her campaign was, over the top in such a crucial election. I can never, ever forgive Massachusetts' voters for what they did this week.

The turnout for the conservative went up and the liberal vote declined by 40%.

That is amazing. Never happened before.

If the vote for the conservative went down by a similar percentage, the liberal would have won. But for the first time ever, in an off year election, the vote for the conservative actually increased.

That Brown is something. This trend continues and Jeb Bush will be the next president.
