Specter to Bachmann: 'Act like a lady'
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/01/22/specter-to-bachmann-act-like-a-lady-2/#more-86558

Washington (CNN) - A heated political debate and charges of sexism erupted on Philadelphia talk radio Wednesday when Sen. Arlen Specter, D-Pennsylvania, told Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minnesota, to "act like a lady."

Specter and Bachmann appeared on WPHT radio to discuss the what President Obama has accomplished in his first year in office. When Specter began to respond to Bachmann's claim that Scott Brown's special election victory in Massachusetts was a repudiation of the Obama administration's policies, Bachmann interjected - to the clear frustration of the longtime Senator.

"I didn't interrupt you," Specter said. "This is beginning to sound like a TV talk show."

When Bachmann interrupted again, Specter angrily responded. "Now wait a minute, I'll stop and you can talk," he said. "I'll treat you like a lady, so act like one."

She's a "lady"? There's only word I can think of to describe her. It's four letters, too. ;-)

She's a sanctimonious twit and he did well using polite language.

23. Yes, I read it. Is a lady supposed to act differently than a man? How about...
"Stop being rude."

24. So, you'd have been equally upset had it been, say, McCaskill reprimanding, oh, DeMint?
What if Claire had told him to act like a gentleman? Would that have been sexist?

Give me a break.

26. Maybe "behave civilized" would have been better.
I guess they didn't "vet" Arlen before the party switch...

3. You're not in the elephant line anymore, Arlen...
That sort of condescension won't go down well just because it's pointer at Bachmann.

We haven't exactly heard you chiding your ex-fellow Republicans of the male persuasion for not acting like gentleman, have we?

5. i see absolutely no reason for eyebrow lifting. he was stating he is acting like a gentleman
i think.... not interupting her. he was not putting her (as a female) in her place.

being a gentleman/lady has it's place. or civility if one choses.

6. Exactly
His comment was spot-on, especially considering who he was talking to.

It was only demeaning in the context that it called her out for being rude.

Gentlemen (and ladies) don't do things like that.

10. No raised eyebrows here. I can imagine him asking a man to act like a gentleman
if he was acting in the same way.

12. Bachman was being an ass
As usual.

She talks over people, doesn't listen to others and is just plain rude, not to mention the fact that she lies like a dog.

Good for Arlen.

14. There was more though.
Spector asked what she had voted for.

Her response was "I voted for prosperity"

He came back with "Prosperity isn't a bill.

"Well, why don't we make it a bill."

That is the short version.

She did keep interrupting.

But they are both ick.

Bet he feels like the last kid picked for kickball on the playground. What with Beck and Limbaugh getting all the press lately.

21. Maybe "I will treat you with some civility if you will act civil"
would have been a better choice of words. She's a raving lunatic and an embarrassment. I can't stand her whiny voice.
