It will be a little while before the politicians figure it out. Every one of them in power now is dead meat. Well, all most every one of them.

The only politicians from the current crop that will survive the tsunami of campaign money that is sure to come will the first ones to take the money and the ones who take the most money. Any of them that thinks he or she will 'stand up' of mistaken, they will be swept away by a constant stream of misinformation and propaganda. It will dawn on them pretty soon; it will be the politicians who take the most money the soonest and bow most completely to their new corporate masters who survive. You can say goodby to the rest of them.

The next thing is there will be clearinghouses. Want to make a lot of money? Start one up today. Here's the problem, there is only so much air-space, there are only so many cable channels, there are only so many newspapers (and fewer every day). In short its easy to predict a logjam of money trying to find spots to get the message out. Someone's going to have to coordinate, to pool interests to take advantage of limited outlets for expression. Think of them as purely political trade associations. Those will need to come into existence quickly.

Oh, and think of the boom that is coming in the advertising industry.

1. Any politician who truly serves the people (rare as he or she may be) is
done for. That means the Democratic party, specifically, is about to undergo a MAJOR downsizing, or at the very least they'll all become Landrieus and Nelsons.

2. The keys will be in the Primary process. No populist candidate will make it past that point

4. Get ready for the new dominion of the DLC
They've already got the power but they just consolidated it and made sure that they are going to be the front-runners in every major political contest out there where a "Democrat" has a chance to win the seat.

The will redefine the vast majority of the Democratic Party. Today's traditional Republican will be considered tomorrows "leftist" when this thing is through.

5. The candidate that can stuff the most corporate ping-pong balls up there...
...or who does the most beguiling corporate pole-dance, will be anointed. Our TVs will guarantee that we nod our heads and "vote" for 'em, and any dissenters' ballots will disappear into the electronic maws of the "voting" machines.
