How about this radical idea ??
Why doesn't President Obama invite the Republican leaders to the White House and ask for their input and ideas about Wall Street and yesterday's Supreme Court ruling? Let them take the lead on these and other difficult issues and he can then advise the Democrats to support the Republican plans on these destructive institutions. Because obviously, the Democrats are incapable of doing anything. Mostly because they are blocked by the Republicans. So encourage the Republicans to get involved in these issues. We want to hear their solutions.

What would be the upside and downside to this idea?

1. Politically, it would be smart. The RRRs to answer both to their corporate masters
AND to the voters. That's some tiny tightrope there.

2. I think the Republicans would just start spounting their tax cut crap about Wall Street
I can't see them pushing any real regulation. I guess that would, perhaps, be an upside as it would show people the Republicans don't want to fight the abuses.

Not sure what they would say about the SCOTUS ruling.

4. The downside is Republicans think Wall Street is being persecuted.
They also heartily approve of corporate political speech.

They would say what they always say. De-regulate and lower taxes.

6. We don't have to accept their ideas...
but at least the people would get to see the ineptitude and lack of solutions from the Republican Party as well. Bring them to the floor and let the full Senate vote on them.

7. republicans are doing what an opposition party should do
too bad Dems can't govern and can't oppose when in minority.
Everything they touch turns to shit.
