To Hell with whining. Beat me.
Edited on Fri Jan-22-10 10:33 AM by Robb
OK DU, here's your challenge. Do better than me.

I'm pissed. But I ain't staying home about it.

Today I'm packing up the baby and hitting the street. Yes, there's cold weather in the forecast. Yes, I've got a hat for her. :D

...Know what I'm bringing? Voter registration forms. Printed 'em out from my state's Secretary of State.

My goal is ten people registered before the baby gets too cold. And I'm gonna report back this afternoon. And I'll do it again Monday.

Going to work? Going to school? Stuck in the basement? Get out the vote. Put down the mouse. Go. Now.

...You need a celebrity to tell you to do it? Fine.

"Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting."

Wish me luck. :toast:

Edited to add: OK, I'm leaving as soon as the baby wakes up from her nap. I ain't wakin' her for nobody, not even FDR. :D

7. Update: I got 8.
It's actually a little more complicated than I thought, getting people to get it all together to fill out a form in front of you. :D

On a whim I grabbed a book of stamps and some envelopes, glad I did. I didn't want anyone to take the form, set it by the door or something and leave it there, I wanted to get them registered. Soooo... I dropped 8 stamps toward the effort. I won't count the cost of the envelopes because I've got a hell of a collection.

Suggestions for anyone doing it: bring a baby. It works wonders. :D

So. That's today. I'll go again Monday. Anyone else?

20. interesting maps
but I'd like to see them further back. At some point those under 29 years olds should outnumber the rest of us. Or do they get conservative as they get older, like Disraeli said? Myself, I went the other way.

and, there really isn't much of a youth vote.Check the falloff in Mass. They don't vote in off years. Not sexy enough i guess.

23. As I said in another thread
...when it's raining, and the water is rising, you have a few options.

You can stand around and complain about the rain.

You can make astute observations about the rain.

You can develop theories about who's to blame for the rain.

Or you can fill some fucking sandbags. :D

26. Well, I am working on candidate recruitment.I have a lifetime of voter reg behind me
Edited on Sat Jan-23-10 11:14 AM by saracat
I will continue to register voters as I can but I view actually getting them to vote and providing them with something to vote FOR as my field of concentration. We can register evryone in the nation but if they don't vote, it is pointless. If every Dem in the nation voted, we would have landslide victories! But best of luck to you.Your efforts are not unappreciated.:)
