Click throughs are usually only used to see how efficient a site is, sort of like a TV rating. The 'cost per click' is compared to other sites to see which ones performed the best. So clicking on the ad would only make this site seem more efficient and they would place more ads here.

DU serves two forms of ads: Google Adwords ads and those liberal package ads from BlogAds.

...and Google adwords are auto-generated through keyword targeting.
If you see an ad the offends you, contact the DU administrators and it will be blocked.
