Roberts and Alito were appointed by Bush. That wouldn't have happened if Al Gore been President.

1. Alito should have been fillibustered...no and ifs or buts. Reid screwed the pooch on that one. |
|
If the tables were turned the Pukes would have fillibustered it for years if they would have had to.

3. I guess they gave him one so they could filibuster the next |
|
After all, it's still 5-4.

5. Let's wait and see where she falls on the political scale after more than one session on the bench. |
|
I have serious doubts about her liberal bona fides. I think the pukes let her through because they suspect that she is not the liberal we think she is.

6. If memory serves we had 60 at the time so they couldn't. |
|
My gut says today they would have fillibustered the hell out of her.

8. Schumer led the fight against Alito filibuster and Reid let him get away with it.... |
|
Hillary Clinton joined Schumer to argue against filibuster behind closed doors in Dem caucus, giving the fence sitters all the room they needed to side with the GOPs. After word got out about the caucus thousands of calls were made to her office, and the next day she said she'd be for a filibuster. Damage was already done. Cover was already set up.
BTW...part of leading the fight against Alito filibuster included Schumer directing his staff to plant smears against Kerry who led the filibuster with Kennedy. His motives were questioned daily and cynically.

...eventually the Court will be so reactionary that we'll finally see a real progressive in the White House as a reaction to it.
Heighten those contradictions, baby!

7. Is DU still working to primary Obama? |
|
I think in light of this decision that might not be such a good idea.
