I'm reading a book called "Age of Betrayal" The Triumph of Money in America 1865-1900

By Jack Beatty published in 2007... I just checked it out of the library today. It's about how the corporations used the 14th amendment, with the help of Supreme Court Justices, to take over the government and bring in the Gilded Age. Here's a cartoon from that period




It's called "Bosses of the Senate" by Joseph Keppler 1889...



Looks just like today.

1. Just goes to show how history repeats itself, since FDR this has been

the conservative goal. My grand father said that when Nixon was elected his first term. My dad argued with him because he felt a split ticket, where you vote for both parties, would ensure balance of power. Dad would recant that ideal a few years later and never cast a ballot for a republicon again.

looks like we're heading there. Don't give up hope, learn history and fight like hell. That's what I plan on doing.
