Hope For Haiti Telethon: Will You Watch?

The stars will come out Friday to raise awareness and money for Haiti's earthquake victims.

Springsteen, Jay-Z, Timberlake, Swift sign on for Haiti telethon

The Hope for Haiti Now telethon, produced by MTV and headlined by George Clooney in Los Angeles, Wyclef Jean in New York and Anderson Cooper in Haiti, will air on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CNN, BET, the CW, HBO, MTV, VH1 and CMT. The event will also feature several musical performances and special collaborations.

Announced performers include Jay-Z and Rihanna taking the stage in London with U2's Bono and The Edge, as well as Madonna, Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Keith Urban, Jennifer Hudson, and Alicia Keys. All the performances will be available on iTunes following the telethon.

MTV plans "Hope for Haiti" telethon

Clooney isn't just asking viewers to give: He's already pledged $1 million. Leonardo DiCaprio also announced a $1 million donation Friday.

Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief airs Friday at 8/7c. Rod Stewart, Leona Lewis, JLS and Michael Buble have all agreed to take part in the Haiti charity single, which has been organised by Simon Cowell.

The artists will record a cover of REM's ballad Everybody Hurts.

The Sun newspaper, which has teamed up with Cowell, said Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Take That and Sir Paul McCartney have also been approached.

Meanwhile, Madonna and Beyonce will take part in a global telethon to raise cash for the earthquake-hit country.

Hollywood star

Performances for the Hope for Haiti event will be screened on every major TV network in the US and streamed on websites around the world.

In the UK, it will be shown live on MTV from 0100 GMT on Saturday, 23rd January, and repeated at 0900 GMT the same day.

Other acts taking part in the telethon include U2's Bono and The Edge, Jay-Z and Rihanna, who will all be performing together in London.

We have volunteer agents all over the country taking the donation calls. I will even be working for a couple hours managing call flow and whatnot. It feels kinda good to be able to help in a more direct way than just donating money. Not saying that donating money isnt great...I'm just glad to get the opportunity to do more than just that.
