"Nola Foulston told jurors that Roeder had purchased a handgun on May 18 and picked it up a week later, on May 23. Just after the killing, authorities had received a phone call from Roeder's brother David, concerned that his handprints might be on Roeder's gun.

David Roeder said his brother had come to his home near Topeka to practice shooting his new gun the day before Tiller was slain, Foulston said.
