4. That toon is spot on perfect.
First they said "Pee in this cup" and I didn't complain...

Oh and BTW, work contracts aren't worth the paper their written on. Ask me how I know.

7. That depends on which state you're in
In Louisiana, a right-to-work state, things like noncompete agreements aren't worth the paper they're printed on, but in next door Mississippi, which isn't, they are actually enforced. Those laws vary widely.

8. I should have said work contracts behind corporations are worthless
I'm owed $36,000 on a completed contract and since the corporation has no money in the bank (by design) I'm SOL. Doesn't matter that the owner has a $400,000 house, I can't touch him due to corporate law.

The lawyers I spoke with all felt sorry for me. That's just the way it is, people have no rights against a corporation. Now we have even less.

19. mourning in America
is more like it, as decent Americans have been mourning this nation's demise since Reagan was inaugurated.

10. The world I grew up in and have known nothing differnt in the job market.
Luckily I took my life into my hands and made space and time for myself and friends. I will always be grateful for how I spent my 20s after dropping out of the Merrill Lynch rat race.

That is the job market we inherited.

11. downside
this is the downside of an unchecked "free market". The stockholder goes with the biggest profit, other businesses are driven out lessening competition and killing communities. We now have a Lowe's and Home Depot , a Staples or an Office Depot. You get paid what they want and you have to stay a long time to get paid well. You have to become them. All the other places you could shop your skills are gone and that is the way they like it. Stuck with them. What motivates you, why the secret shopper of course. instead of good wage you get a secret shopper bonus if you parrot a slogan. Who do we have to blame for this? Us.You could see all this coming as small businesses by the boat load went under. imagine all the small businesses that could have grown. hard to grow against these monsters. what is there to offer? lower prices, lower margins, greater risk of going under, lower wages, less employees, high anxiety.

15. K & R. To the guillotines with them all.
Chop, drop, start the hell over. Businesses aren't casinos. Ever notice that rampant CEO/Worker inequality is only a runaway problem in the U.S.? Somehow, I'm thinking these greedbags aren't exactly 400 times smarter or more talented than their average workers.
