Jesus rifle update

we know the company has agreed to stop putting the verses on the sights and to send out kits to remove the verses.

amd they will also:

-snip-

Trijicon will provide the same remedy to foreign militaries that have purchased their products. Maj. Kristian Dunne, a spokesman for the New Zealand defense force, one of the foreign militaries currently using the sights, stated, "We were unaware of it and we're unhappy that the manufacturer didn't give us any indication that these were on there. We deem them to be inappropriate."

-snip-

Another purchaser of Trijicon products, for use in Afghanistan, is the British military. The revelation that there were Bible verses on its country's weapons prompted the following statement from the Church of England, as reported by the The Guardian: "It would be unfortunate if this practice by an arms manufacturer undermined the military effort in areas of the world where our forces are trying to bring long-term stability. People of all faiths and none are being killed and injured in these conflicts, on all sides, and any suggestion that this is being done in the name of the Bible would be deeply worrying to many Christians. The meaning of the Bible is to be found in reflective reading and prayer, not in sloganising and soundbites."

In a statement to ABC News, Tom Munson, director of sales and marketing for Trijicon, a company that states on its website, "We believe that America is great when its people are good. This goodness has been based on Biblical standards throughout our history, and we will strive to follow those morals," said that there was nothing wrong with adding the Bible references, and that Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), which initially raised the issue after receiving complaints about the sights from active duty service members, was "not Christian." Apparently, the Church of England must also be "not Christian," given that they also find the Bible references inappropriate. Tom Munson might also be surprised to learn that 96% of the service members who reach out to MRFF for assistance are actually Christians, but just not Christian enough or the 'right kind' of Christians for today's military.

-snip-

we have a corrupted military - they cannot use the word Honor anymore.

the religiously insane are dangerous and should never be allowed any power in the military or govt.

40. not in the least do i think they are appropriate
and i don't think that everyone in the military is honorable...but ensho is all about sensationalism...well, maybe not all about but certainly on her hot-button topics.

the company should provide a means to remove the reference or replace the scopes (and I think the purchaser should have the choice) and no longer put them on the scopes...

So, IOW, much like "nuke event", your title of "jesus rifles" is not only false but misleading.

Really? Like when a nuclear plant has a welding fire in the maintenance shop that is put out in 30 seconds and ensho finds a website that classifies it as a "nuke event" and then reposts it here on DU as a "nuke event"?

You don't like the poster giving out information on a completely different topic, so you follow her into another thread and trash the thread without even reading the source material. You have a personal vendetta. Second, if you were at all interested in truth and knowledge you would not care whether or not she posted about nuke events, you would let everyone evaluate them on their own instead of being rude and personally insulting the messenger. So logic says you do not want any derogatory information out about nuclear energy - logic can't say why - just that your view is skewed.

Edit: had wrong gender attribution.

"Jesus Rifle Update" was at the top of GD, I checked it out, read it, noticed it was posted by ensho and made a comment. An opinion, really, since this is an OPINION BOARD!

So, I never followed anyone, stop projecting.

The "nuke event" part is because in the past, much like "jesus rifle update" I was curious and looked at the post. See, its called a pattern of behavior, ensho makes posts with misleading titles and you jump all over someone that disagrees with personal attacks and projection.

you would let everyone evaluate them on their own instead of being rude and personally insulting the messenger.

Pot, meet kettle....

So logic says you do not want any derogatory information out about nuclear energy

How you derive that statement from my comment on how ensho posts misleading threads on "nuke events" only goes to show that I was right...

If I had said you had well reasoned and meaningful arguments, and that you were all about open information, and that you saw that nuclear energy had a dangerous side to it that everyone should be kept informed about. Then I could be more wrong.

Did that water help your burn?

they are events AT nuclear plants...and you refuse to change your appellation...thus showing that you have no interest in propagating the truth...rather you just want to make sure whatever happened is sensationalized...I guess that kind of makes you a lot like the MSM...

it is the combination of NUKE EVENT that is the problem...and if RSOE calls them that then they are wrong too. the event has nothing to do with nuclear material it is not a nuclear event...

" He said that Uncle Sam had seen fit not to give us a "pussy `Jewzzi' (combination of the word `Jew' and Israeli made weapon `Uzi') but the "fire arm of Jesus Christ" and made specific mention of the biblical quotes on our gun sights. He said that the enemy no doubt had quotes from the Koran on their guns but that "our Lord is bigger than theirs because theirs is a fraud and an idol".

As a Navy Chief for 21 years, I had to deal with things like this many, many times. Actually missed a promotion because of the stink I made about another Chief doing the same thing. In the end, the sacrifice I made helped all of the Sailors under the charge of that Senior Chief. A good day in my book.

As a fellow vet BTW, let me say thank you for your service.

The fundie Christians are becoming ever more heavily represented in the military and they run cover for each other big time.

Obama is another god botherer, slightly less obnoxious than Bush perhaps but he will never jerk the knot in the military Christianists assholes like it truly needs to be done to curb this kind of behavior.

That rant I quoted was insane, the NCO that spouted it should be discharged with prejudice for mental illness not reprimanded.

48. Any update on those 'prayer cards' bush malAdministration had soldiers fill out?
Or did we all forget about that profiling, data phishing stunt?

'Oh, don't worry, General Christian Rabid Crusader, we know which soldiers we can trust to followin any illegal order without thinking. We know which ones are REAL Americans, God fearing, Jesus besotted Americans!'

Or...

'Colonial, I don't care what about the strategic advantages of sending in more troops to save unit XYZ! Most of the unit are heathens who did not return their prayer cards! They failed to pledge to pray for bush every day! It is God's will that they perish for their sins.'

Prayer cards should have been a loud enough warning that verses on gun sites shouldn't have happened in the first place.

The brass needs a purge.
