Poll question: With Air America gone do you still get progressive radio?

List what city or town you live in and what if anything you still get.

Here in Albuquerque we never had Air America and we still get Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartmann, Randi Rhodes and Ed Schultz etc.

1. In Chicago, we have WCPT 820 AM, plus the same material at 92.5, 92.7 & 99.9 FM.

2. Air America Radio had a station in Atlanta for around a year.

But now all the most liberal city in the South has is Boortz, Boortz, Boortz.

And Rush, and Hannity, and Beck, etc etc etc...

I stream liberal radio through my iPhone to my car stereo when I am out and about.

3. Most Progressive Talk Wasn't AAR

In Chicago, the only show they carried was Ron Reagan. Most markets weren't even carrying him (another reason AAR died). Dial-Global is the major Progressive Talk network...Ed Schultz, Stephanie Miller, Bill Press...and they're going strong and looking to expand.

I get plenty of Progressive Radio here...besides the local station, WCPT, there's Free Speech Radio on several college stations and Wisconsin Public Radio that offers excellent informational programming.

4. I think the Boulder-Denver station parted ways with all AAR

long ago... It is possible they retained a program or two on the weekend. I have XM-Sirius and they haven't had any AAR programming for a very long time. They do still have Thom Hartman, Mike Malloy, Ed Schultz and Bill Press (and unfortunately, some Sirius so-called progressives that I can't stand). Of those, only Malloy and Hartmnan EVER were affiliated with AAR and hadn't been for years.

I live in Northern Vermont and with the right weather conditions I can get a radio station out of Buffalo, NY. Randi Rhodes, Ed Schultz, Colmes, etc. Never real clear but listenable.

We won't lose Mama & the Mooks, Thom, & Mike since they aren't AA. I'm not sure about Ring of Fire & Democracy Now with Amy Goodman.
The people running AA threw away good shows with both hands; so filing for bankruptcy doesn't surprise us at all. My kid is still mourning Morning Sedition.

I now have Sirius. Unfortunately I can only get Thom Hartmann for an hour and Ed shultz for an hour, but Alex Bennett with his nonsense is on for three hours and big mouth Lynn Samuels for 2 hours. Sure do wish Left Talk 146 had better programming.

It is interesting listening to the weather and traffic on the other side of the continent.

We do have a local community radio station that is reasonably center-left, if that's what you mean by "progressive."

I listen every once in awhile when I can stream it on the 'puter; their signal is weak, and I live in the next town north. Unless I'm driving south to the bigger town for something I can't get locally, I can't get the signal.

Generally, though, I don't remember to turn it on. I'm not a fan of talk radio of any sort.

I used to listen to Thom Hartman on my drive home after work but now I have Karel. I prefer Thom Hartman because I swear my IQ went up every time I listened to him. God! I miss him. I'm not comparing Hartman to Karel because they're very different. But I truly feel the loss of Hartman.

32. No progressive radio in Maryland, Delaware, Philadelphia, now DC gone

The bluest of blue areas in the US have NO PROGRESSIVE RADIO.
The only stations or programs left around are through NPR and
Pacifica.

Amy Goodman's 'Democracy Now' is on a local station, however
it's a depressing way to start the day. I listen anyway, on
WEAA, Baltimore. Diane Rehm's show on WAMU in DC [I listen on
WYPR, Balto.] is better than many so-called progressive shows,
so are some local WYPR programs. I can listen to TYT only on
the Internet at their site or Ohio Majority Radio in the
morning. My other favorites -- Stephanie Miller, Thom
Hartmann, Randi Rhodes, Ed Schultz, Mike Malloy, Ring of Fire,
et al, are Internet only on various streams, but not over the
air.

Bill Press has excellent guests but he's another pompous
blowhard who talks too much about himself and who he
knows--reminds me of a bad clown. Why does Alan Colmes have a
talk show? He's a boring wimp. Why does Lionel have a program?
BORING! Sorry, Montel, your TV show was OK, but on
radio--needs more work, hope you find another outlet.

What about Jack Rice? Where can we find him on the radio in
Philly, Delaware, Baltimore? Internet?

34. In Portland, KBOO-FM has had lots of progressive talk plus Democracy Now and Pacifica news

forever. In Minneapolis, we have KFAI-FM, which offers less talk, but still has Democracy Now.

However, I can't listen to talk while I'm working, so I never became a fan of Air America.
