Krugman: "Jobs Not Created"
"This CBO report on job creation leaves me a bit angry — not at CBO, but at SAOs (senior administration officials). Here’s a chart showing CBO estimates of jobs per buck from various employment-creating policies.

What’s notable is that CBO gives pretty high marks to a job-creation tax credit, which is something a number of people, especially at EPI, have been calling for for a while. I endorsed the idea a couple of months ago, believing that it was one of the few measures Congress might pass that could actually have a noticeable impact on employment at relatively low budget cost.

But the idea was never taken up, and my understanding is that this was due to skepticism on the part of those SAOs. Now maybe they were right — but CBO disagrees. And given where we are now, shouldn’t the White House have tried to do something about jobs?"

1. they better soon, or there'll be no second term
I spoke with a person I know that works for Michigan Department of Transportation. I asked him if they had done any hiring since Michigan got money for the roads. The answer was no, MDOT was not doing any hiring for road projects.

2. Everyone of these measures on the chart has one common theme.

It puts money into circulation in the economy for you and me to use.

Think of where the economy would be right now if the stimulus had been applied to the economy instead of the big institution and the greedy criminals that caused all this in the first place.

How many times must the trickle down theory be proven not to work before it will be proven not to work?

3. Give part of that money to the people directly, either for paying off their mortgages or in cash
if they own outright or rent. In the case of mortgages the bank still gets the money regardless it all flows upwards in the end. What a shot in the arm that would be! Heck, if all those "welfare queens" just spent the dough on beer and cigs companies like Budweiser and Phillip Morris would make out quite well.
