If Corporations Want to be Like People, Then...
Let's Tax Them Like People!

oxfdblue's diary ::
Since the Court has basically said the you, me, and hmmm, Exxon are all the same, I think things should be made a bit fairer.

I've written before that we need a couple of new tax rates- 42% for income over $750K and 45% for income over $3 million.

Let's align the corporate rates to the same as the personal rate. Let's make corporate deductions as limited as personal ones.

So, Goldman Sachs made $13.6 billion in profits? Okay, 45% of $13.597 billion... they would owe $6.12 billion in taxes on the amount over $3 million.

What other rules do we humans need to follow that corporations don't that should now be forced on them as well?

They just want to have the rights we have.
And what congressmen would dare suggest such a thing now...they would be bombed with a cash bomb that would destroy them.

4. So they can stop deducting their rent and phone bills - I can't do that
personally.

There's a ton of write-offs that could go by the wayside - guess someone's going to have to sue the IRS to enforce the 14th amendment.

5. Can we put a corporation in jail if they break the law?
I for one, would like to see Mr. General Electric doing time in San Quentin with a roommate named "Bubba".

6. Sure. The board of Directors and The CEO are the real life 'person'
While they are incarcerated, their corporation would be forbidden to operate. After all it is in jail. Shut it down totally. All it would take is one with a threat of the next one. They would turn on each other to get the extra business from the rival corporations that are in jail...
