Utah man sentenced for owning pipe bomb

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A federal judge has ordered a Farmington man to stay away from white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups as part of sentencing for owning a pipe bomb.

U.S. District Judge Clark Waddoups imposed the order Thursday on 34-year-old Brandon Easter, who earlier pleaded guilty to a federal charge of owning a pipe bomb. snip

Waddoups gave Easter credit for the six months he served in jail since his arrest, and sentenced him to five months home confinement.

He says Easter has mental health issues that could be better addressed if he's not in prison.
