65,000+ Haitians in Miami-Dade to get TPS and work permits, Crist might suspend Davis-Bacon wage act
Edited on Sun Jan-24-10 10:02 AM by Billy Burnett
My question... what jobs?

Miami-Dade has one of the highest unemployment stats in the US.

Edit:

Just heard this on Miami local TeeVee news.

Governor Crist could approve suspension of Davis-Bacon (prevailing wage laws) to help "accommodate" jobs for these Haitians. :puke:

4. And that is only a portion of the total of the 200,000 potential
http://www.miamiherald.com/news/miami-dade/breaking-news/story/1435825.html

<snip>Federal immigration officials are expecting up to 200,000 undocumented Haitian immigrants, including nearly 68,000 in South Florida, to apply for a new federal immigration program that would allow the migrants to legally remain and work in the United States for 18 months.

The estimated number of potential applicants for Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, is far larger than earlier predictions of about 30,000 Haitians nationwide, according to local immigrant organizations and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officials.

If they don't remain healthy and uninjured, the ERs will REALLY be overloaded.

7. This is the importation of extreme wage slavery into the U.S.
In Haiti, a person who makes $3 per day is considered highly compensated.

6. So, 65,000 Hatians will no replace workers for less than min. wage.
Good job Crist. If they would start working on the high-speed rail they were supposed to 10yrs ago, the state would gladly love the added work force.

and in some counties it is over 14% and that is just those that are in the current records..it is way higher than that..you know it ans so do I..so are they going to send them to "YOUR STATE?"..because my state of Fla has no jobs!
