Long time bachelor Andre Bauer, SC Lt. Gov. has been outed.
Edited on Sun Jan-24-10 04:34 PM by dixiegrrrrl
A blog exposing the hypocrisy of gay closeted politicians, has now listed Bauer, with facts.

( read halfway down page)
http://www.blogactive.com/2009/08/rumors-confirmed.html

for those who might have missed it, Bauer compared giving people government assistance to "feeding stray animals."

"My grandmother was not a highly educated woman, but she told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals. You know why? Because they breed. You're facilitating the problem if you give an animal or a person ample food supply. They will reproduce, especially ones that don't think too much further than that. And so what you've got to do is you've got to curtail that type of behavior. They don't know any better," Bauer said.

edited headline to more clearly reflect the outing issue.

16. There isn't a single economist who doesn't stress the importance of nutrition
that is IF you want to find the best of and get the best out of your population

North Korea and Haiti are prime examples of the economic (and everything else) rulers keeping their people poor and starving to defend against outsiders getting into the ruling party. Everywhere else to a lesser degree but still to some degree.

39. 40% of draftees were rejected in 1940 due to diseases of poverty & malnutrition: rickets, scurvy...
... poor eyesight up to and including blindness, pernicious anemia, goiter, low IQ, pellagra, tuberculosis... These are not trivial conditions.

If the only way Truman could justify school lunches was national security, then fine with me. "National security" is a large umbrella, looked at rationally. The US interstate highway system was also an artifact of national security, courtesy of President Eisenhower.

2. How Andre loses.. *a particularly republican method*
start putting an "r" in his last name and asking his people to google Andre

a la the campaign waged against Ford...and how they morphed Democratic (adj.)
into democrat (noun)

and how they deliberately mispronounce & misspell, and then feign innocence.. two can play that game:)

11. I wouldn't call him gay - he's a person that has sex with members of the same sex
That's just one part of sexual orientation - the other two parts are self identification and lasting romantic feelings. (This is per the APA)

and apparently the idea of a gay governor was too much for the hood and sheet set in SC.

33. Not quite...
Bauer is also an irresponsible dickwad. He has numerous citations for reckless driving, and got off without even a warning for driving over 100 mph in a state vehicle. He crashed his own air plane after knowingly flying it with an improperly overhauled engine. He and his passenger were lucky they came off with relatively minor injuries, and that they crashed without killing or injuring anyone on the ground.

9. Back when i was a republican...
late 80's, and I was a moderate New England one at that, I used to get annoyed at the "smear" that bible thumper were all closeted homosexuals (even though I didn't like the bible thumpers). I've found it amusing how true it has turned out to be, and have since realized that in just about every organization the guy pounding the table the loudest is usually hiding something.

this is the most bass-ackwards state in the Union. When I cross over the state line from NC to SC to visit family I feel like I'm going into another country.

(snipped quotes from article above):

And he said it was time to confront “babies having babies, somebody's got to talk about. Politicians don't want to talk about it anymore because it's politically incorrect.”

Later, Bauer told The Greenville News that “people in society have certain responsibilities, just like if you don't pay your taxes, there are certain repercussions.”

He said government hasn't made requirements to make those receiving aid be more responsible.

“They can continue to have more and more kids and the reward is there's more and more money in it for them.”

Instead, he said the government should place incentives in its welfare programs such as providing child care so parents can work or receive education so they can break the welfare cycle.

Government continues to reward bad behavior by giving money to people who “don't have to do a thing,” he said.
Does this include corporate welfare, such as subsidizing Boeing's expensive move to South Carolina--to the tune of a 60% tax break? (And how many millions does that eventually work out to? Never was too good at math!) I agree, that kind of welfare sucks! Not to mention the bloodsuckers who keep running for office and pandering to the lowest element in our society. What are THEY giving back? Are these party hacks good for South Carolina, or do they just contribute to the continuing stereotype of us as a bunch of stupid, xenophobic rednecks?

Is Bauer proposing we take away free lunches from the kids with bad parents--the ones who test positive for drugs and won't attend school conferences, et. al.? Punish the kids for the parents' behavior, isn't that what he is advocating?

Interestingly (and hypocritically), Andre Bauer is a major pro-lifer, and takes the OPPOSITE line when the subject is abortion: Why punish the baby for the behavior of the parents? Like Mike Huckabee, whom he supported for president, Bauer does not believe in any legal exceptions for abortion in the cases of rape or incest; and this is the moral defense he and Huckabee repeatedly offer. So, apparently, it's okay to punish kids for what their parents do, as long as they are already born! Just not in the womb! The womb is sacrosanct, but once they are born? Fuck them and their free lunches!

(((blood boils)))

Anyway, now you know why Sanford is still the governor. Everyone here in SC already knows."

A major pro-lifer talking about the "breeding" of the needy and how that behavior must be curtailed... Imagine that. (SNORK)

28. I loved the part in the sun article where he said that kids should be kicked off the lunch program
if their parents didn't attend parent-teached conferences and pta meetings.

a lot of parents whose kids get free or subsidized meals, are working a couple of dead-end jobs, and a lot of them are working those jobs at night (which is, I believe, when most pta meetings are held)

I would love to sentence him to a month of living on minimum wage, working two dead-end jobs, and looking after 4 children (although nobody should actually have to live with him, shudder) he'd probably starve them.

29. Bauer attends my relatively liberal Presbyterian church occasionally (probably more that me!).
There are many, including my gay brother and his partner, who have always thought Andre was gay. But lately Bauer has been showing up at church with an attractive woman. That started the rumor that he is playing straight for a run for South Carolina governor. The Christian-fundy Bo-Jo elements wouldn't stand for a gay governor.

38. Bauer and a whole passel of Rethugs were already outed by
Linda Ketner. She is an out lesbian who came within 4 points of defeating a white, male, Rethug incumbent in Cong. District #1. She used her own money and got ZERO help from the national party until the very end.

Ketner has been around a long time. If anybody knows who is in the closet, she would. Ketner knows politics and the gay scene.
<snip>
I asked her if she thought being upfront about being gay, even campaigning with her partner of 9 years, Beth Huntley, impacted the race. "When you lose by such a tight margin, anything could have played a role." In focus groups she found that people didn’t care about her personal sexual preference but respected her honesty. "We have more gay people serving in South Carolina than probably in anyplace in the United States; they’re just not out of the closet. We have an awful lot of people in the closet– Lindsey Graham, Glenn McConnell who’s our Senate president pro tem, our Lt Governor… I obviously lost the conservative, religious crazy vote, but I would have anyway because I’m pro-choice… It got more national attention than it did local attention; it was no secret to anybody around here." She actually won in Charleston County.
<snip>
http://firedoglake.com/2009/05/30/blue-america-meet-linda-ketner/

Nobody gave 2 hoots except the crazies. Unless someone can come up with some real info and not just people talking about it, nobody will listen. It will be considered ill-mannered gossip about 'that sweet man Andre.'
Don't ask me to explain the contradictions here. You'll go crazy trying to understand. I think it basically boils down to the fact that he isn't flaunting it so it is ignored.
