White House advisers promise sharper focus on jobs
Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON – A politically shaken White House promised on Sunday a sharper focus on jobs and the economy, but key advisers were less sure-footed on health care reform. They took a wait-and-see approach as the dust settles from the punishing loss of the late Edward M. Kennedy's Senate seat.

President Barack Obama's poll numbers are off — primarily because of the slow economic recovery and double-digit unemployment. And a majority of Americans also have turned against health care reform, the president's signature legislative effort that was likely killed with Scott Brown's stunning upset in the special election in Massachusetts.

"The president has always gotten the message," top Obama adviser David Axelrod said. "The message is, we need to grow this economy in a way that allows hardworking people who are meeting their responsibilities to get ahead instead of falling behind."

Axelrod said Americans would learn more about White House plans for the economy on Wednesday when the president delivers his first State of the Union address. The adviser offered no specifics; there has been talk of a second economic stimulus package, one totaling around $175 billion.

That's simply not true. Most Americans are against this ridiculous charade that is being referred to as "health care reform" because that isn't what it is at all. People see it for what it is: The Private Insurance Company Profit/Campaign Bribe/Money Laundering Enhancement Bill." The vast majority of Americans have always been in favor of real reform.

7. It's called the Health INSURANCE Reform Act
The care part of health got lost. Instead of talking about educating doctors, nurses, researchers, and ALL those other professions and skills needed involved in HEALTH, the entire slant has been on insurance. Think about how many bright kids would enter medical fields if we funded their education. Wouldn't it be so much cheaper to pay for this instead of paying huge premiums, salaries and soaring stock prices to/for insurance companies? Too bad this Country is so scared of "socialized" medicine that we are only concerned about insurance and not care.

6. I'll say it again . . . what the hell good is a job if you're too sick to go to it?
If they really gave a shit they would be pushing single-payer in order to take the health insurance burden off businesses so jobs might be created in this country rather than in countries that provide health care for their citizens.

8. I'll believe it when I see it.
I hate that I was saying that during the campaign, and that I'm still saying it now.

10. I can't wait to see how Obama and the dems manage to screw this one up.

Maybe he will mandate that all unemployed people get jobs? Anything to avoid direct governmental intervention.

11. "The president has always gotten the message..."
Yea, that's brilliant. Just package another damned lie and see if people will swallow it. That may have won him the election, but after his first disastrous year of pandering to the right, it just comes off as sleazy. Sorry Axelrod... we're not buying this bullshit. You'll have to do a lot better than this.

12. A politically shaken White House...
Edited on Mon Jan-25-10 12:42 AM by Amonester
"The message is, we need to grow this economy in a way that allows hardworking people who are meeting their responsibilities to get ahead instead of falling behind."

Yes... and (no), because even if you'd manage to grow this economy, how will ordinary people who don't have any health coverage (and who... uh.. will NOT have it anyway... anytime before 2014, at the very least...IF that scam bill ever passes...), yes, how will all these victims of the non-insurance scammers ever pay for their $58,000.00 health-care bills NEXT WEEK??

Huh?

***the politically shaken WH says: crickets***

Sorry but, shake, shake, shake... until it's buh-bye. :(

then they'll go cash their checks somewhere.
