He won mainly because of out-of-state teabaggers and because Coakley ran an absolutely horrendous campaign.

I know that many of us have come to expect Republicans to be obstructing, mean-spirited assholes, and they usually are, but I'm actually wondering about Brown.

Will he have any sense to answer to his constituents in MA, or will he be a teabagger Senator? And if he latter is the case, will he likely get kicked out in 2012?

1. He'll have to act like Snowe, pretend to cooperate, then stab you in
the back...she's pulled it off so far.

2. Ah, so be a "moderate" aka play both sides, but remain loyal to the GOP
I see.

3. Yup, when push comes to shove, Snowe and Collins know where
their money is...Brownie won't be able to be use the rhetoric that Demint (R-Confederacy) use, because it will turn people off in MA.

9. If he does that, he'll get teabagged in the GOP primary in 2012
He's in a real lose-lose situation. The teabaggers brought him to the dance, but he needs moderate and left of center voters to keep his job in a GE.

4. If Brown moves to far to the right you better believe he will be replaced. MA
is a firm blue state. Coakley was bad at running. Her mistake she thought she was a shoe in. Don't you worry they will be watching him. He moves to far and they will vote him out.

5. How could out of state teabaggers win an election for him?

6. He could be the most liberal Republican in the Senate
and still vote with his party 90% of the time, as that wouldn't really take much.

He would then run on that record.

8. If MA nominates a decent, progressive candidate
who works hard and doesn't go on a vacation right before the election, then yes, I think Brown will lose in 2012.

10. The bigger question - what wil happen if he doesn't act like one?
Brown is a blank slate. If his acceptance speech is any clue to who he is - he is (a) not terribly bright and (b) just another rich white "good old boy" after power and money. What will the teabaggers do when they realize he used them to get into the most exclusive club in the world and has no desire to change anything that might threaten his membership there?

12. Scotty has been "schooled"
Look for him to keep a low profile, and to have as many photo-ops with Obama as possible.

he may even vote with the dems on issues that other repubes have "covered" for him

he's eying a 6 year stint, and is counting on a brutal dem primary in '12

it probably won't work, but I'm betting that's what his plan is

13. He basically ran as an independent.
He carefully distanced himself from the republican party.

Time will tell........

15. I think Brown will be kicked out in 2012 regardless. But who knows?
It depends somewhat on how strong his challenger is, naturally.

16. Brown is pro-choice...
...teabaggers want to kick him to the curb. They ran another candidate AGAINST him: Joe "No Relation" Kennedy.
