A bright light in the dark sinkhole of media. Could this be the future?
OK, full disclosure, the person who started and runs this is a friend, but this has really taken off here- and it's only a few months old. It's changing the face of reporting in VT. This is what real reporting looks like.

3. true enough- that's the way it operates
but what this site does is put real investigative journalism front and center and directly involves the reading public with the process- and its working. Why couldn't it be duplicated?

2. Great concept! And I hope so
There was an organization a couple of years ago that attempting to promote the same model on an international scale - something like the Independent International News network or something like that (cannot remember their name :-( .) Their idea was to get everyone to give them fifty bucks a year to fund independent investigative journalism. Windmill tilter that I am, of course I gave them money.

I haven't heard anything of them lately. I think they morphed into something on a smaller scale.

My husband and I are definitely thinking of moving to Vermont in the distant but not that incredibly distant future.

4. I think it would be hard to do on an international scale
and maybe even on a CA size scale, but this works. And it does frequently touch on national and international issues, albeit through a VT lens- like Annie's 2 part piece on how much of our organic food comes from China.

As for moving here, come on up, the weather frequently sucks, but the political atmosphere is pretty healthy.
