Wow, could DU get any more pissed off than we are this morning?
I was gonna do a poll and ask what people here are gonna do about what is pissing them off, but then I thought people would be pissed off by a poll. The idea kinda pissed me off too...

I don't know about you but last week was just about the worst week I have had politically speaking since Obama was elected. The double whammy of the MA election (my two grown daughters are arguing about it with each other on Facebook!) and the SCOTUS decision just about finished me off, as a progressive.

Are we all in a collective frenzy this morning or is it my imagination and bad mood?

14. I'm retired! Sometimes, tho, I miss the distraction of the office and busy work.
Oh, well, I'll find something constructive to do with myself and try to snap out of it...

16. That's not it.
I'm an "early" retiree, due to severe physical injuries sustained on the job. Hence, I suffer from not only physical limitations I never imagined before, but also chronic pain, and other health-related issues that are connected with the "accident" that resulted in my retirement. It would be difficult, I suspect, to navigate this path, were it not for the same attitude and outlook that I had when I did work.

I think that we all get one life. Some of us get to take more rides on this rock, as it circles the sun, than others. But the value to life is how you live it. Sometimes, old sayings have value, and hence I think in terms to understanding what I can "do" (change), what I cannot do (change), and appreciating the difference between the two.

Also, I had a (tor)mentor who taught me that only the fool who attempts the ridiculous can become the hero who achieved the impossible. That bit of wisdom applies equally to each and every one of us. More, it applies to each and every day that we are alive on this miracle we know as Earth. I don't have enough days left here, to waste a single one by being depressed, unhappy, and scared about the future.

Today, in the northeast, it is rainy. Every single place on my body that can hurt, does hurt. Except my mind. My mind remains thankful that I'm still here, and I plan to make the best use of this day as I possibly can. That won't be because of my limitations, but rather, in spite of them.

Peace,
H2O Man

24. What a great outlook!
I feel better already. Thanks for sharing.

We had rain and high winds last night. When I went out to survey the damage, I found that my new patio umbrella was completely trashed, but there was no damage to my house or fence, no trees down, etc, so no big deal.

The best part? Sun is shining and a pair of bluebirds swooped in to chow down on the "bird candy" (a variety of dried insects from the Audubon Store). Time to get the bluebird houses up!

17. Anybody who is retired.....
and who isn't experiencing a high "pucker-factor" just isn't paying attention.

Being retired means being at the mercy of the pensions, Social Security, and Medicare.

If the Corporations in Charge decide to hit those, retirees are fucked.

Too old to work, with age-related medical conditions, and out-of-work kids.

Jeezus... just talking about it makes my asshole clench!

5. illegitimati non carburundum (very bad latin for "don't let the bastards grind you down"
where I am, the sun is shining, it isn't snowing, or flooding, we have no tornadoes or earthquakes (at least not today) my loved ones and I are healthy--and my kitty is sitting on my lap, watching me type.

for today, I am going to try to ignore the bastards and enjoy the day.

2. I'm trying to stay away from here
Not working because I'm addicted to the drama, but yeah, last week just about sucked almost as much as the 2004 election....and I live in MA. Right now, I don't trust anyone here.

13. "Right now, I don't trust anyone here."
You too? Seriously - I thought I knew people and now I look at everyone like a potential tea-bagger (obvious exaggeration but still...) I can totally relate to not trusting anyone right now.

6. listening to npr this morning actually heard caller say voting brown to GET health care
and stop the do nothing dem congress.... she says, maybe i am naive

the guest and commentator laughed at her

but this really was the thinking in mass, that the dems are the one not accomplishing and repugs would kick it in gear. i heard this was reasoning of many of the voters, but so convoluted, i couldn't believe anyone had that kind of thinking process. ah well.

18. If one wanted to send a message to the national Democratic Party, using the MA Senate election...
Edited on Mon Jan-25-10 11:41 AM by Tesha
...was a pretty cheap way to do it. After all, Bozo Brown has
to stand for re-election in 2012, only two years away, and it's
a good bet Massachusetts will be voting Democratic in that
race (assuming *ANYONE* is voting Democratic).

And it's clear that the national party isn't listening to all of the
more-subtle messages we've been trying to send to them, so
maybe this 2x4 to the side of their heads will wake them up
in time to avert complete and total disaster on November 2nd.

Maybe.

the fact that some people are fans of teams that will not be going to the Superbowl Feb 7th, and yeah, I guess we've got some really pissed off people.

Plus it's Monday.
