I could go see my Representative today and tell him this
"Hello", I could say. "My name is Thom and I am willing to write you a check for a campaign donation if you can tell me here and now you will oppose any effort to stop Mountain top removal in our state. The check will be in the amount of $10,000,000, which is more than you have spent on every election in your political life. What do you say?"

And then I could follow that up with this. "However if you oppose Mountain top removal that's OK. But you should know I still plan to spend that ten million dollars supporting a candidate of eiter Party who does agree with my position and I will also spend an additional $10,000,000 in advertising indirectly opposing you in the form of Issue ads."

What do you think he would do?
