Question: What are Rush Limbaugh's current sponsors & advertisers?
Rush has always been a raging asshole, but he really went beyond the pale with "Barack the Magic Negro." This is far more disgusting and bigoted than Imus's remarks.

So I'm inclined to boycott Rush's advertisers, and send some nastygrams to them explaining why I'm boycotting them.

Using my Google-fu, I've managed to find this page:

http://www.rushlimbaughonline.com/advertisers.htm

which lists the following advertisers:

AutoZone (901) 495-6500
Bose Wave Radio 508-766-7781
Mission Pharmacal
(makers of Citracal) (800) 531-3333
General Steel Metal Buildings 1-888-98-STEEL
Hotwire Discount Travel 415-343-8444
Lending Tree (704) 541-5351
Life Quotes 1-800-670-5433
Select Comfort 763-551-7460
Mission Pharmacal
(makers of Thera-gesic) (800) 531-3333
Overstock.com (801) 947-3100

I'm not sure how up-to-date this page is, but I'd like to start with these guys. I'd appreciate seeing a known-current list of Rush's advertisers.

For now, we know who not to buy from and who to call to demand they stop advertising with Rush.

17. Can't say I blame you.
I've occasionally listened to him, as well as Glenn Beck and the 700 Club, just to gather intelligence (you know the saying, know your enemy.)

I can only listen to so much before I feel like physically destroying the TV or radio. Glenn's got me throwing my remote at times.

23. My email to Autozone
It has come to my attention that Autozone is a major sponsor of the disgraceful and obscene "Rush Limbaugh Program." This shock jock's invective-filled rants are harmful to American values. I believe in sponsoring reasoned political discussion; However, that's not what this program is. Your involvement with Mr. Limbaugh, a self-admitted opiate addict, is not acceptable unless his commentary is balanced with equal time for those who oppose his viewpoints. Therefore, I will do all of my auto parts shopping at Advance and other AutoZone competitors until you make clear to the network that distributes this garbage that IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO AIR ONE POLITICAL POINT OF VIEW. Possible balance could be obtained with commentary from any number of thoughtful and outspoken progressive voices. I am sorry that AutoZone has made sponsorship choices which limit our freedoms, and I will take every opportunity to let others know about your involvement with Mr. Limbaugh and the networks and stations that air him and refuse to allow open and real discussion.

8. so if I don't patronize any of those advertisers
is it ethical of me to send them cranky messages stating that I won't buy/use their products/services?

Or could I sidestep that by just registering my dismay with their support of total asshattery?

20. Good. Now send them some nastygrams explaining why.
We want them to know why they're taking a hit to their pocketbooks, so they can hit Rush in his pocketbook.

15. Be careful. A lot of these guys just buy "radio" and do NOT buy Rush in particular.
Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 01:36 AM by LibInTexas
Now, you can tell them you don't like the Rush buys, but they may not be doing this as a specfic thing.

I suspect that "Ruth's Chris Steak House" has some sort of agenda. They always seem to buy RW radio.

I, for this reason, have never patronized them.

16. Tough shit for them.
Maybe if these guys get hit in the pocketbook, and it's explained to them, maybe they'll start taking a closer look at what their advertising money is paying for, and demand an end to the hatred and bile being spewed over the airwaves.

No free pass for them.

I'm personally going to start with Autozone - that's the only business on the list I've personally patronized.

24. Then they need to pay attention to their buys!
Good point, LibIn Texas. Advertisers need to do a reality check and be involved in the process of discussion and debate. I believe that we should support advertisers that buy time on stations and networks that allow EQUAL TIME to those of opposing viewpoints. Right now, it's all fascism, all the time and the shits just keep on comin'. Many stations air a continuous lineup of Beck/Limbaugh/Hannity/Weiner (aka Savage)/Bennett/Boortz/Ingraham and we need to ROAR back that this is totally bloody unacceptable!

19. CompUSA is another.

He also gets a lot of money from Big Oil but you won't find that on a list of sponsors or on any documents he turns in to the IRS every year. OxyRush is Big Oil's highest paid spokesman. This is why he is so openly against any Global Warming warnings or any environmental issues. He knows where his bread is buttered.

They have crappy customer service. Their people don't know a damn thing about what they sell. And their prices are higher than you will find anywhere else.
