SCOTUS and Health Care Reform
not sure if this is being discussed anywhere. but i think the supreme court just killed any chance we will get a better deal than the senate bill for saving the health insurance industry.

after brown's MA win. even IF the dems were smart enough to see the writing on the wall. even IF they wanted to throw the voters a bone, and throw in some parts of the house bill, or put in the PO via reconciliation...

the SCOTUS ruling just gave the industry a trump card. water down the senate bill in ANY way and we will unleash the funding floodgates for the midterms (all perfectly legal now). you'll be washed away.

i predict we get either the senate bill, undiluted...or nothing. but the dems can't take such a humiliating loss. so we'll get the senate bill. we lose.

2. they are in trouble.
Edited on Mon Jan-25-10 05:22 PM by rapturedbyrobots
the boomers are all rotating onto medicare soon. and the birthrate is not high enough to replace their enrollment numbers. add to that all the people who lost coverage due to unemployment.

they are in serious trouble. which is why they need the mandates.

edited to say that this is just one analysis i've read (coming in part from industry insiders) that makes sense to me. could be wrong.

3. I have lost hope for reform.
And I have lost hope for helping this country out of its death spiral.
