Seriously.
I can understand "Limited Liability". Some effort (say building a large windfarm) requires huge investments and that means a large number of investors. But few would invest in a proposition that exposes all their wealth to risk just because they want to invest, say, a few thousand dollars.
But why does a corporation need the protections and rights of a citizen?

3. I think that "Hidden Power" and "Corporate Personhood" are closely related. |

The whole "Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad" thing appears on the scene the same time that the obscenely rich robber barons started realizing that hidden manipulation of politics and markets is much more profitable.

Limited Liability goes back to the 1600s or earlier. But Corporate Personhood goes back only to the 1860s...

5. Hypothetically speaking |
|
if you were rich and a corporation and a member of an elitist demographic group would you prefer immunity from criticism and the ability to buy off any politician at will, or would you prefer to be just like everyone else and be held accountable?
