and Defense are going to bet frozen... this means all federal employees, for example, will face pay freezes.

Usually things like this, tried by Hoover too, as well as FDR, deepen the economic crisis.

Somebody put the pressure since our deficit is that high. This is what is done in economies like the basket case that was Mexico. You think the economy is bad... it is going to look like golden in a year.

Oh and for those who think Obama will get a second term... you kid me right?

I was hoping he would kick ass and take names, but to my astonishment he paid off the bankers and basically made mostly wrong moves.

Well, the midterms are going to be a disaster and it would take a literal miracle for Obama to get another term. You get 4 years to fix whatever you inherited else you are out. Obama would have to make a drastic U turn, and it's just not in him. In fact, I'm not sure there is anything he could do now to salvage the situation.

Obama has painted himself into a corner. By spending trillions trying to do the impossible (reinflate the housing bubble), he now has no wiggle room cash wise.

We live in interesting times, more interesting than most people get as yet.

I thought attempts by the corporate class and international banks drove the voters in Latin America to move to the left. There are now banks being set up like ALBA designed to be a counterbalance to the IMF as well as numerous politicians elected from various left wing groups who either took over or came close.

So what is to stop the US from doing the same thing? It seems in the US we are becoming more extreme. The right is becoming more apologetic for plutocracy, but the left is becoming more and more angry at plutocracy too.

I think we are in the beginning stages of revolt in the US in between health care, the financial system and the lack of jobs.

In Argentina something similar happened. Chile was mid of the road.

Now Venezuela and Bolivia were clear examples of this.

Now there WILL be a revolt in this country, people are realizing dem\ republican, who the fuck cares? All DLC present here notwithstanding.

So I would not be on the direction of the revolt

We are in a declining Empire, another thing that other countries did not have to deal with. Now Rome did, so did the UK and the French, as well as the USSR. Now last time I checked the Russian Federation has not really gone "left" either, or for that matter Poland...
