Poll question: Did The Straw Break The Camel's Back Yet?
Edited on Mon Jan-25-10 09:54 PM by Dinger
Have you had enough? you know what I'm talking about. It might be the direction our country is going. It might be your congressman. It might be your senator. It might your state and local politicians. It might be President Obama. It might be his cabinet, or someone in it. It might be policy. It might be Massachusetts. It might be the economy. It might be Iraq or Afghanistan. Whatever it is, you've had enough, and the camel's back is sagging heavily or has broken. It might be Just fine. Which is it for you?

1. I am a strong person, but every day brings new disappointments, new horror (see my two most recent
posts)

the only thing keeping me going is the occasional flash of humour--today's being that zsa zsa's ninth husband is running for gov of CA.

8. my last hope was that Obama would understand the meaning of the Brown election
Edited on Mon Jan-25-10 09:53 PM by northernlights
Instead, he's freezing domestic spending, while leaving military untouched. And cutting taxes for those with jobs and the middle class, while giving the former middle class now borderline bankrupt and those millions of nameless souls who fell off the unemployment rolls long ago the big eff you.

I never bought into the mantra "Change you can believe in." I always feared Obama was too young and inexperienced, and was concerned about the "post VietNam / post-partisan" crap. We needed someone at the helm who'd learned the lessons of VietNam to get us out of this morass. And I was reluctant to hope. But I was so proud when he was elected and he came out of the box strong. Then vinexplicably, sometime after Sotomayor, he veered hard right and it's been downhill ever since.

I have no hope left for this country or really for myself. I have absolutely *no* idea how I'm going to make it through another year. I'm starting to really hate Obama. I hate his big, self-satisfied smile almost as much as I hate W's smirk.

10. Not yet. I do believe Pres Obama knows what's right, and I think he has a chance to fix it.
And I'm gonna stay and fight for the people anyway.

Obama's Presidency is NOT over by any means. He just has to change the strategy.

11. It's an old DU tradition
The obligatory "Have you had ENOUGH yet?"

The answer is always yes. And what's done about it is equally predictable. Nothing.

13. I have been calling for a national strike
for a while but that ain't gonna go anywhere.

I am now fully convinced the best way is to hunker down, and get ready for the Samizdat... to come...

17. Samizdat/Dissent/Economic Revolt
I've done everything I can to check out of the system.
Every penny of discretionary spending is stopped.
We divested from our bank.
We don't have a penny of retirement savings invested in stock.
We have cars that are paid-in-full, and no plans to buy a new vehicle for at least ten years.
We're getting by with an old fridge and stove--no purchases of durable goods.
We cut our Christmas spending in 2009 to 10% of what it was in 2008.

And I am an advocate of national strikes and boycotts.

Just waiting for the herd to become a pack.
