"I'll Vote for the Democratic No Matter What !!! "
Yes, We've all heard it, We've all suffered the wrath of those who will not see,
Those who will not hear.

Forgive them D.U.ers, For they know not what they say

Folks, Six months ago, That was me. Yes I admit it and I apologize.

When someone puts their entire soul into something as I did and obviously
as these people have, It's a damned hard road to walk all the way back to the beginning

All the way back to Reagan, Back to Bush Sr., Back to Clinton, Back to Bush, And now Obama.

It's frigg'in Deja-Vu all over again and it's breaking my heart, It's Broken my heart.

Forgive me butI don't know what else to say, I'm used up, I'm disgusted, And I'm just plain sick
of the games. I'm tired folks, More tired I think than I've ever been in my entire life

“So this is how democracy ends"

9. It really is something else.
You'd think someone seized our government and were storming each city neighborhood by neighborhood, forcing us into a true underground resistance.

These people would not last a day in American Revolutionary times. They'd crawl into the corner of a basement and suck their thumbs.

The one that fought for people like me and so many others. The one that relished putting
Re-Thugs, Birthers, Baggers and WingNuts in their rightful place.

Perhaps Tomorrow.....

52. As far as I can see, many DU'ers are searching for a way to move government
to the left --

If you're serious, let's hear you ideas --

Voting for the "lesser of evils" for 40 years or so hasn't worked --

And people are seriously upset, frustrated -- and looking for a way to find

real solutions.

32. DU cannot function if it is not complaining about the Federal Government
Now that the D part of DU is in absolute control of the Federal Government, hyperbolic bullshit about what the federal government is doing can be cause for tombstoning.

Thus, DU has entered into dysfunction.

Pretty obvious

That kind of thing can't be sustained in the face of reality. He never claimed to be the Second Coming, but a lot of people are as furious with him as if he'd actually done so. Just hope he doesn't get crucified by the mobs.

21. If high expectations is in regards to voters expecting a simple return on
A candidate's pledges, then I don't think it is high expectations at all.

So far, Obama has given us a wishy washy, no strong comment or argument for the Health Care Reform, so it is ending up in the toilet, or if it passes, it will do little but once again see that people have expensive insurance mandates but no guaranteed quality of care.

He has given us another endless war - the Obama war in Afghanistan.

He has handed our economy over to the Big Bankster/Fraudsters.

And as of tonight, he is instituting a McCain campaign pledge - to turn back Federal Spending on the Federal Level. This is huge, and it will affect the middle class.

Oh, on the plus side, he has ended the ridiculous ban on stem cell research.

Don't ever forget, George the Elder made one campaign pledge he broke - "Read my lips - no new taxes" and when he failed slightly on that score, he was toast.

16. I know the OP. He is okay.
I understand how he feels. I have decided to change how I work for Democrats, and how I support them. What I have been doing is not effective or at least it is making me feel that way. Sometimes it makes me feel like quitting.

Let's stop distrusting each other and decide what to do.

I do remember feeling this dispirited before. It was when Reagan was elected, and then reelected. I could not understand it. I saw seemingly sane Democrats vote for him.

I nearly gave up then. It is easy to lose hope.

Reagan did a lot of damage. I have to keep going, at least to try to stem the damage that could happen now. We all have to keep going.

17. well I do not know what he hopes to accomplish
with a bunch of "I apologize for ever voting Democratic" posts.

One thing I have decided not to do is
1. give up
2. hate the Democratic party
3. either help or not care if Republicans win in 2010

sadly, I often seem to be in a minority here. and whether I can trust the OP or not, but YOU I do remember, he seems to be trying to encourage all three, and I am sure the Republicans feel the same way about progressives.

Head Start is gonna take a significant hit when this austerity shit starts coming down. There is a strong indication that Social Security will be on the chopping block this year.

What differences there are are differences of style over substance. It's the Money Party that rules.

have been worth shit. Even a lousy Democrat - we have too many-is better than a "good" republican.

I am sure it will come down to a lesser of two evils choice in many cases this year, but that's what you have to choose from. Maybe you should get involved in working for good democratic candidates earlier in the process.

So this is your first time pouring your soul and feeling unfulfilled?!1

My memories go back to 1956, seeing my mother and elder sister cry over STEVENSON's second loss.

Some of my own, later unfulfillments had to do with circumstances (assassinations!1) cutting short JFK, MLK, RFK, but later, also, the revelations that they had their own misrepresentations.

And the brilliant domestic agenda of LBJ being offset by Vietnam.

And another good man, McGOVERN, getting in the way of letting some other candidate run who might have been able to beat NIXON.

And all the very good Dem candidates who would have improved the direction of the country but LOST.

And, oh, there's GORE and the coup of 2000.

And the fear and trembling of the Shrub regime.

Sound familiar ?

I don't need to prove my Democratic credentials to anyone here.
Those here that know me (In Real Life) Know that I've manned the barricades, Knocked
on doors, made the calls and fought as hard as anyone here not only for a democratic majority
but for Obama as well.

What people need to realize is that this is not about democrats, Its about the country and
those of us that have done more than just pull a lever in a voting booth. That would be those
we call couch potato democrats, Internet democrats and more precisely, Lazy democrats.

Its about principles, Democratic Principles. YES, Some of us still believe in that stuff.

Anyhow, Hope I doubt very much you agree...
I didn't mean bs as in B.S, I meant B, As in plural of. Mmmmmmmmmkay :)

69. Huh, I'd never call you a freeper, or imply it either. Nope, not familiar
I don't read all the threads, don't recall your name either, though I go more by the icon (visually oriented) and when people change that it really throws me off. As I do not know you, you also probably know little about me so say back don't ASSume (as your wrote) too much about me either.

I agree with what you write here, was just noticing (starting this subthread) your reply to yourself where perhaps you meant it to another poster.

"What people need to realize is that this is not about democrats, Its about the country and

71. Jimmy Carter was my first Presidential vote --
and it has been a painful experience just about every election since. :( I was a Clinton True Believer first go around, then much of the luster faded off for Round 2.

Now, I give to and back progresive/liberal candiates who have a track record of walking the talk and who aren't afraid to speak out or make some waves. And if that means they are not of a particular party I am aligned with, then so be it.

The Bush years quite literally exhausted me.

And the first O year is not the fresh, cool sip of water I had hoped it would be.

Soldier on, ny friend, and give yourself to those who deserve/earn it from here on in. :hi:

72. Say "no matter what" and they won't have to catter to your wishes,
because your vote is a lock.

This is the mistake that a lot of movements have made, and may be one reason why nobody seems to care what the gays think (except when we withhold that donation check).

Maybe this fiasco will be the impetus this country needs to finally break the two party lock. That seems doubtful.

With the influx of corporate money to come....I have no illusions that things are going to get any better.

I'm sorry to have to say that.

Q3JR4.
Is currently looking to marry someone from a country with a real "liberal" party.

75. Your exactly right my Friend. They have taken Lib's and
Progressive for granted far too long. And now Rahm Emanuel call's us "Fking Retards" ????

Wow. No more free vote's from me.
(Or any other Lib or Progressive worth their salt I hope, Screw 'em)
