The bad Spending Freeze advice given to Pres Obama Will Cost Him Reelection in 2012...
... because it will enhance the pain and suffering of his base voters and will not win over the independents and republicans.

It is always the Economy stupid when it comes to reelection races. No different this time.

WHO is giving Obama this advice and pretending it will be good for him? and the country?

Paul Krugman has been on the mark criticizing this plan, and he is right about the Economy being fragile, and prone to another huge drop if there is not GREATER government spending to prompt demand.

Republicans will hail it as a great decision by President Obama! Do you wonder why? Because it will be just the policy they need to turn him into a one-term President. Hear that? That's Wall Street 'Too Big To Fail' Banks applauding.

You don't stop government spending when unemployment is 'officially' over 10%, and unofficially closer to 17%, and housing sales and prices are still dropping, and foreclosures have not even slowed.

This is BAD ADVICE given to Pres Obama, and it will be a BAD DECISION to follow it. Hopefully, Pres Obama will listen to those of us who helped put him in office and ditch this proposal as just a trial balloon.

13. Sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
I'm sure that in January of 1978 few Democrats thought that Reagan would be able to beat Carter.

2. There's just one small thing I disagree with:
"Republicans will hail it as a great decision by President Obama." They might when the cameras are off for the reason you suggest, but not publicly. No matter what Obama does, the right will find a way to bash him for it.

I took a look at drudgereport.com to see how they're spinning this freeze, and what did I find? This headline: "FLASHBACK: Campaigned against spending freeze..."

5. They're also going to accuse him of not cutting spending enough.

9. They'll also blame him for the inevitable fallout.
This would be a moronic move, and the Republicans would blame him for every lost job. This one issue alone would be enough for them ride back into power.

3. Why would he listen to us now?
He hasn't really paid much attention to the needs of the people, nor has he figured out that no matter what he does the Republicans will never accept him.

6. Dude! It's cosmetic!
It's a political gimmick.

Almost all of the budget will not be subject to such a freeze.

Explain that one to me. He's using a political gimmick that validates the Republican narrative on the economy in order to appeal to...?

Help me out here.

7. Why do you assume it's advice given to Obama, and not Obama's own position?
People are always defending him this way. If he's manipulated in such a fundamental way by the people he hired, then he's a moron. I think he's just a Republican.

10. I doubt that he'll run again. He's got nothing for the people and
I doubt the corps want to throw big hunks of 'free speech' at him. Check & Mate.
