The group of 11 apes at a British zoo made the film with a specially designed "chimpcam" - and the results will be shown on the BBC on Wednesday night.
The camera allowed the chimps to see live images of what they were shooting, which appears from a preview of "Chimpcam" to be pretty much the sky, the ground and the occasional other chimp.
Some of the chimps also get close up and lick the camera.
It's unclear whether the animals knew they were making a film, but primatologist Betsy Herrelko said it was interesting to see what the apes focused on.
The chimps were also given another camera that showed live shots of several parts of the zoo, including their living area and the room where the zoo staff prepares their food.
The chimps were taught how to press a button to select which image they wanted to watch.

For the last eleven months the chimpanzees residing in the Budongo Trail have been taking part in a study called 'The Chimpcam Project'. The project, a joint collaboration between the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, University of Stirling and Burning Gold Productions, allows the chimps to shoot their own footage using a chimp-proof camera, experience video streaming for the first time and learn how to use touch screen technology.
