AAAAAAAAAGGH!
The subject line of this post is an all-purpose subject line for today intended to cover the following issues:

  • My reaction upon watching Bill Moyers' "Buying The War" expose, as the nation's supposed 'best and brightest' (ironic reference intended) rationalized falling for one of the biggest and most tragic scams in U.S. history. (Note to Dan Rather: No, I did fall for Colin Powell's U.N. pitch because, well, he's Colin Powell. I watched it with a discerning and rational mind and thought it was a bunch of shit.) And that was just from those who agreed to give Moyers an interview and face up to their role.

  • My reaction to my students who were just exceptionally annoying today, who wouldn't stop being distracting and talking, thus making me, for the purpose of propagating among them, I hope, a big-picture perspective, bring up their fellow student who took the class a couple of years ago, who wasn't particular interested in the material, but was respectful and pulled off a solid B. He doesn't get to be distracted and disrespectful on a busy last day of the semester because he went to Iraq and now doesn't do anything. (Yeah, I was a bit of an ass.)

  • My reaction to being able to get onto democraticunderground.com and get my alternative informational fix and maybe some communal commiseration!

  • Mainly the first thing.

2. I just sat on the couch and shook my head.
It's still hard for me to believe that at one point 70% of the American people thought that Saddam Hussein had anything to do with Sept. 11, 2001.

Sad and disgusted is what I felt...

4. Didn't see it (don't have cable) & hope it's available online. I remember when I heard Powell's
UN pitch, I just shook my head and said, "Well, maybe all that's true, but still, we shouldn't start another war." It wasn't till later that I read up on The Colon and his covering up of My Lai. He's a good German if there ever was one. And his no good son has done so much damage to any semblance of democracy in the media.

I heard on the QT that CoPo is Obama's foreign policy advisor. I think he wants to redeem himself because he knows his reputation is shot to hell. Yeah, tell that to the Iraqi people. I saw him speak last year and I didn't applaud, but a lot of the rest of the audience did.

I have also seen Bill Moyers in person and he's become one of my personal heroes. He knows exactly what's wrong and he's not afraid to say it. I will check out Buying the War if it's online somewhere. Don't wanna miss that.

Thanks for posting. You'll have a better day tomorrow. But if you feel like screaming again, then scream. I'll hear you and I'll understand.

I BELIEVE the number to call to order is 1(800)336-1917. If I wrote it down wrong, try the PBS website.

5. The ones who got new jobs
That's what kills me. I can't figure out how people who fail miserably end up with better jobs than they started out with. That isn't just true in government either, I've noticed it every place I've ever lived. The only disqualification to job promotion seems to be admitting you need a job or a woman saying "fuck" in public.

Anyway, I am furious that Bush's speech writer got a column at the WaPo, along with some of the rest that they talked about. None of those assholes suffered at all.
