If you had the chance to see Sarah Palin speak (free) would you?
I have an industry convention in Vegas this spring that I'll probably be attending. Palin is going to be the keynote speaker.

I can skip the speech, but I want to go just to experience the bizareness first hand.

I'm going, I'm just curious what others would do.

I'd love to hear what it's really like at one of those things, what those people are oohing and aahing over - and I'd love to hear that you challenged a few with facts and get a report on the looks on their shattered little faces.

And just what the hell industry are you in that considers Sarah Palin speaker material.

...and this is going to be a room full of industry execs that I'm trying to impress.

As much as I'd love to, showing up drunk is probably not an option.

Since this is something you pretty much have to attend, I'd say pegging her on a Q & A would be pretty much a requirement. If I were in that position, I'd consider it a requirement, mainly for my own source of amusement. It would be impossible to resist.

Because Nevada was considered a competitive state in 2008, I got autographs of all of the Democratic candidates--except Gravel, who didn't campaign in Nevada during the primary/caucus season--and three of the Republican candidates (the Republicans didn't do much campaigning in the caucus).

Biden--1
Obama--2
Clinton--3
Edwards--7
Kucinich--1
Dodd--1
Richardson--1
McCain--2
Paul--2
Romney--1

And lots more from others who campaigned on behalf of the candidates, including three of Bill Clinton.

49. I'm afraid I only collect experiences, but I don't have a Palin in my collection yet.
Partied with Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) on occasion when we were in our late teens.

Chatted with the captain of the Jamaican bobsled team (in Jamaica).

Met Dave Foley (Talk Radio/Kids in the Hall) while on vacation in Costa Rica.

...but this'll be my first Palin.

Absolutely go. She's the Rethug glamour girl and you have a first hand opportunity to observe her in person.

What makes her so charismatic to her base?
What does she say, and what are her code words?
Will she wink at the audience?
Who introduces her? (so we can research their creds and find the connections!)

Oh my gawd, you have been given a gift. Go! While the speech will nauseate you, the peripheral info you will glean should be gold.

47. a Palin Speech
No. If I wanted to listen to gibberish I would play an old record back wards. But, for those of you who enjoy bullshit, Sarah is by far one of the best BSers around. She can run on for minutes at a time and not say one thing of any merit. But, if you do go.. ask her some oddball question like "Who was the 16th president or what number is Obama?" and listen to the BS. She is a whiz. You might want to give her a minute to check on her Blackberry for answers. Enjoy.

If curious 'looky-loos' show up,
the press will report the crowd as
'over capacity.'

Why add to her publicity?

(Sidebar:
Went to my local bookstore to find a copy of "Game Change"

the Customer Service counter...I had to ask for it.
BUT as you entered the front door, there were stacks and stacks

And everyone just walked by....

There were stacks of Glenn Beck's latest tome stacked up on the

Attend the speech with the attitude you are there to observe and learn first hand why she ticks for some people.

Same idea with "Mr. Massachusetts" Scott Brown.
They are both so unbearable to listen to, the only way I'd go see them is if they did a live sex act, or something.

They could have a microphone, but they would also have to do a striptease, otherwise I'd throw tomatoes.
Levi Johnson and some FOX news talking-head RW hottie would be the opening act.
Thanks for the laugh!

109. No.
I only go to see people who interest me. For example, Robert Kennedy, Jr., and (now ex-) Senator Clinton. I had opportunity to see and meet ex-President Clinton, but had no interest in it. Same with Bob Dylan. Hence, there is no way I'd go see SP.

114. HELL TO THA NO!!! For two reasons...
1. I have absolutely no desire to hear her babble on with her bumper sticker rhetoric and her folksy "charm."

2. The people she inspires truly frighten me, and I don't want to be surrounded by too many of them in one place.
