MSNBC changes line-up

MSNBC is streamlining its dayside schedule and doing away with the themed hours focused on the economy and politics. It's a back-to-basics approach for the network's daytime news hours which slipped to fifth place in December, behind FNC, CNN, HLN and CNBC between 9am-4pm.

TVNewser has learned that effective Monday, David Shuster will anchor at 10amET and 3pmET, Tamron Hall will anchor at 11amET and 2pmET and Contessa Brewer will anchor at 12N.Chuck Todd and Savannah Guthrie begin the dayside hours at 9amET. Andrea Mitchell remains at 1pmET and Dylan Ratigan at 4pm.

It's a continuation of recent changes to the daytime lineup.

The network's themed shows "It's the Economy" which had been co-anchored by CNBC's Melissa Francis and Brewer and Friday's "New York Times Edition" which had been co-anchored by NBC's Norah O'Donnell and

Can't tell the players without a scorecard. I'm glad they are keeping Contessa. She is a 'wild card.' You never know what she will do although she can be annoying. When she does shift her brain into action, the reactopn of her guests is priceless. Plus her hurricane coverage is must-see teevee.

2. Not A Bad Move...

Harwood was a harmless stenographer...the others were "conventional wisdom" shrews who only brought cocktail party prattle to their "reporting". I see they limited Contessa to one hour...just enough time for male viewers to oogle at her "podium" but not enough to let her make her usual fool of herself.

I like moving Dylan to later...and giving the show a lot more structure than what I saw in the morning. Economically he's been spot on and he's being a lot more focused on issues. It's also a very good counterweight to Wolfie and his mindmelt.

Now if they could ever get up the guts to shitcan Mrs. Greenspan and her friends...if I wanted to see sockpuppets I'd turn on faux.

(and note I make no comment about the morning show since I refuse to watch it...I'll leave that for the others).

I think they are going for CNN's juggular...that network has become more and more moronic...

Shakeups like this are never good, and especially when the parent network has mismanaged the evening lineup so horribly. My concern is that we'll lose the only real outlet for liberals left on TV.

18. Is the removal of Norah related to rightwing pressure?

I had been covering the Norah situation and my blog still gets hits on this story though I posted it in November. The search terms used to find it according to my blog stats has been the term "fire Norah".

We tape Rachel and Keith, watch snippets of Dylan but other than that they're not worth it. I gave up on Tweety awhile ago.
