SoCal Congressman's Web Site Hacked
Rival Campaign Takes Advantage Of Typo

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- A rival congressional campaign has hacked an Orange County congressman's Web site, exploiting a spelling error to direct a link to his Democratic challenger's site.
The Orange County Register reported Tuesday that a link on Rep. John Campbell's homepage linked to campbellforcongres.com, with only one "S."
The campaign manager for Campbell's Democratic challenger Beth Krom said an intern
noticed the error last November, so Krom supporters bought the misspelled domain name and redirected it to her campaign Web site.
Krom campaign manager Melahat Rafiei said she clicked the link every morning to see if it was still up because it made her day.
Campbell's campaign said the
link was finally fixed Tuesday afternoon, after the Register reported the hack on their politics blog.
