Feingold Supports Obama's Spending Freeze
http://www.wausaudailyherald.com/article/20100127/WDH0101/1270669/1981/WDHsports/Lawmakers-pleased-with-State-of-Union-jobs-focus

When asked about the spending freeze:

On Tuesday, White House officials said Obama also will call for a three-year freeze on nonsecurity discretionary spending, which would lower the deficit by $250 billion over 10 years.

Feingold said he was pleased to see Obama taking steps the senator recommended in a Jan. 12 letter to the president.

"Reversing the reckless budget path you inherited will require difficult decisions, but it is absolutely necessary that we return to the kinds of responsible budgeting that were a hallmark of the 1990s, and which resulted in actually balancing the federal books," Feingold wrote.

"Helping firms to hire workers must also be a high priority," the senator added, "and a jobs tax credit should be part of any jobs package Congress considers."

I also heard his comments on NPR. He was positive about the spending freeze, even though it's something unfortunately that has to be done.

13. No need for popcorn.
Recent history shows that there is an eerie silence on DU when an authentic liberal defends Obama.

16. Let's not forget who owns a large proportion of our Treasury debt
China. Also the oil exporters, Hong Kong, and Russia. Not necessarily our friends. If they decide to stop buying our Treasury bonds, we'll be in real trouble. Russ knows it's prudent to whittle down the amazingly large national debt. Absolutely, spend what's needed to stimulate the economy and create jobs, but get rid of any unnecessary spending that wouldn't help with that.

List of major foreign holders of U.S. debt:
