The report runs at least several times each hour.
They're talking about The Stimulus, and they go out of the way to ask is your tax money being wasted? about ten or fifteen times per report.
Here's the shtick: they find some program about which they can go "tut tut," and then they call on some poor grad student or municipal worker to expalin how the money is being used, also grilling them on whether or not the project is "necessary" or "beneficial to the economy" or "helping to create jobs" or whatever.
I'm okay with that, because why not track the money? I'm less impressed with their choice of targets, which today (for instanced included $670K for a hormone study. $670K would set me up for life, but in a bill of this size, it's really not even a blip on a blip! Surely there must be more egregious "wastes" of money, right?
And anyway, why is this the first legislation that CNN has covered in any depth? Why not The Patriot Act, or the Medicare Bill, or any Defense Budget? Aside from celebrity-stalking, this is the first time I've ever seen CNN do in-depth, investigative coverage of anything.
Why the sudden zeal?
