16. If the Republicans want to look like dunces...
I say we give them every chance we can. There's almost no rational human being (So the R's are out of the equation, I know.) who would look at that display and not say, "This is entirely phony."

If they want to look around at each other during the SOTU to decide when to clap and not, I say we give them every chance. They NEED to be shown for what they are.

11. Richmond was the capital of the Confederacy
perhaps they're tyring to send a message. Like Reagan giving his first post convention speech at Philadelphia, Mississippi (where 3 civil rights workers were killed in 1964)

12. The theatrics behind this...
Making the Repubs look popular, attractive, governing and in charge. Taking the opportunity to go over Repub talking points one more time to a large audience. It had nothing to do with responding to President Obama's speech.

And they must have been getting "SMILE" cues the whole time.

15. Isn't that a misuse of state facilities for political purposes?
He isn't supposed to be politicizing the public facilities, I mean, he is governor of everyone in Virginia not just the repubs isn't he?
