I will always cherish President Obama’s speeches and his passion, but I have concerns about his actual commitment to make the change I hoped he would champion. Tonight’s SOTU address really did nothing to calm me down. He still deserves to be primary challenged. His conservative “lite” agenda might still be a better solution than the real thing, but it is far from the best solution to so many of the problems we face moving forward.

Nuclear power plants and clean coal. Are you fucking kidding me? This alone shows how corruptible and sorry to say, how tainted his tenure will be recorded if he continues to keep and follow the advice of his current advisors. (Emanuel, Geithner, etc,)

I was semi-encouraged by his challenge to the legislators of both parties, but it was a toothless challenge. While he threatened to veto an imperfect bill, I have no doubt he would sell us all out for passage of the disgusting Senate sausage HCR bill. He should have championed Medicare for all or any single payer solutions. Instead, he acted as if they were never proposed.

I guess that’s supposed to be our opening to another online petition, since he asked for a better solution. Hello? The best solution of a single-payer payment has been taken off the table way too soon and way too troubling for my future support.

And it was sweet of him to once again tease the overturning of DADT, but for me it just came off as yet another tease. I don’t believe that he has the conviction to make any of this happen on his own. And he might be right to be so cautious. But this is not leadership that I can trust, let alone follow or support in anyway.

I remain part of the lost base until I see progress beyond public spankings even if I’m supposed to presume that’s a start.

We shall see or not.

1. I too have been very skeptical but I have to say that this was a change

in tone and a calling out of the bad guys instead of making nice to them.

For that I must give credit!

I will await actions to match the words however before he wins me back.

As for coal and nuclear - I am anti- coal but pro-nuclear.

Usually when somebody says No offense for example, they are about to offend you. In this case, the OP can say say cherish Obama's speeches and passion, but it sounds like complete BS to me. Just like when somebody says No Offense, or With all Due Respect.

come right before some uncomfortable truth is opined. I think the OP and most anyone else really means the "no offense" or "no disrespect" caveat, and it's not meant to highlight their weaknesses. At least for me it's always used in situations where I really DO respect the person's opinions, but I say it point out my disagreement with their position.

I don't see it as a slam against someone or use it a particularly offensive or derogatory phrase. I guess it's up to the beholder. Words do have meaning, and that's why we have to choose them well. No disrespect, mind you. ;)

I actually want him to deliver on the promises he made to get my vote. And it was a proud vote. I'm just saying that I'm not so sure that I got what I voted for. Where are the restorations for bankster regulations? That's just another of many missteps that have given me doubts. Is that so wrong? Is there no room for discussion? Fine. Eat me. Divide the vote. We're both screwed.

In the end, I didn't. I know without even seeing it that it was passionate, articulate and full of fiery rhetoric. I also know that to listen to his voice is a thousand times more pleasant than listening the shrubby. I just haven't seen much follow through on his speeches and I'm just a bit tired.

and have to agree that I'll be watching to see if his actions match his pretty words.
I also hit the WH site to offer my 2 cents for universal, single-payer health care. If you never ask for what you want then you are guaranteed to never get it.
