Taking on the five rightwing SCOTUS justices the way he did was bold and risky

They *DO* have the power to make his life miserable in the next 7 years, depending on what cases are brought before them.


He deserves our support for this... and we must have his back in the next several days as the rightwing media blows this up and goes into full hissy-fit mode.


No matter what else you think of Obama's agenda, or what he's done or not done as President so far, this issue is about much more than Obama or the current politicians in office.


This is about, pardon the cliche, our grandchildren.


They either live in a "Rollerball" world or they don't.


We must rise as one to back the President on this.

Criticizing the filibuster process on Alito- rather than getting out and helping to lead it, then later on whinging in the SOTU about one of their decisions was, to those who recall their history, anything but.

Reminded me of choosing to support Lieberman in the primary against Lamont- then having Lieberman turn around two and three years later, and show his "gratitude."

17. AH, the Supreme Court Rightwingers Of The United States?

18. Not really. The Court is powerful but that power is very narrow. If they reviewed

legislation at the front end (as is done in some European countries), I'd agree.

Moreover, the Court is the least political branch. None of the Justices wants to be seen as less-than-judicial to their peers (e.g., the legal community, Ive League law professors).

I hope Ginsburg and Stevens retire within the next year so Obama can go ahead and fill those spots. And if we're lucky, either Scalia or Kennedy will retire too.

24. I don't think you have to worry about that too much.

If he were unable to perform his duties as president, the VP would step in to perform them. If they don't like President Obama, they sure as hell don't want Joe. Especially if they're the reason he had to step up. More importantly, they know that even an assassination *attempt* would ensure the opposition party was utterly powerless for at least the next few election cycles.

If it weren't for those two reasons, I'd be concerned as well.
They're not going to risk being driven out of power for the foreseeable future.

Honestly, I think they should be jailed. Selling our government offices to the highest bidders is really nothing less than treason. It is hands down the worst judgment of my lifetime.
