Attention Jan 27 marchers!
Remember our friend David who came with us from KC for the march?

First he made the NY Times yesterday. Then today a local reporter from our suburban newspaper called and interviewed him and me for an article that will appear on Wed. She asked if we had pictures and I sent her a bunch of pictures from DUers. (Thanks to all the photographers!)

LOL She said they probably wouldn't print the bush in a noose picture but she did think it was funny.

But here is the most exciting news - evlbstrd just told me that Randi Rhodes was talking about David on her show today!!!

Oh and it also looks like we are kicking some ass at the NY Times over this supposed spitting incident.

I promise to keep you posted.

The excitement just never ends here in red state hell. LOL

1. He's a national sensation!
David couldn't keep up with us because people kept stopping him for pictures and interviews. Randi picked up on the "carpenter from Prairie Village, KS" theme in the Times and hammered at it. Freakin' Kansas!

5. Excellent
Who would have thought that your state would be so interested in a protest march. That is too cool.

I missed Randi talking about David, (I did have to pretend to work a bit), what did she say?

24. I didn't hear her
evl told me. David was pretty damn excited. We went over to evl's last night and he emailed his daughter the pictures. She is in Ireland this semester going to school. She's a neat kid. I'm sure she will be glad to hear about her famous dad.

“I grew up during the Vietnam War, but I never protested it and never had my lottery number called to go fight,” said David Quinly, a 54-year-old carpenter from Prairie Village, Kan., who arrived here Friday night with about 50 others after a 23-hour bus ride.

“In my view, this one is a war of choice and a war for profit against a culture and people we don’t understand,” Mr. Quinly said. “I knew I had to speak up this time.”

20. That was my favorite quote
The second sentence:

“In my view, this one is a war of choice and a war for profit against a culture and people we don’t understand,” Mr. Quinly said. “I knew I had to speak up this time.”

I know that I speak out locally, but it is time to go National. We do not have the luxery any longer to keep quiet, we haven't had the luxery for a long time. Please tell him that I thought it was excellent that people couldn't walk past him without commenting. Very cool.

22. He and proud were here tonight.
He doesn't have or know how to use a computer. Yet.
We were showing him the pictures and articles and links. He was amazed at the attention he got. It's convinced him that he has to get a computer. He and I were brewing a street theatre concept, too. Let's just say it involves spitting.
Dave is an amazing guy.

but, is the spitting incident the one I read about on FR? Where someone was supposed to have spit on a "wounded vet"?

15. It may be the same ALLEGED incident.
I haven't bothered to check freeperville. It's all too predictable. From what we know, the rumor started with a NY Times reporter and hasn't been substantiated. It isn't mentioned in the article linked upthread.

27. David has been a fighter for quite some time
He put signs in his yard against the war and his city fined him for violating their sign ordinance. So he got an ACLU attorney and fought it all the way to the Kansas supreme court. And he won! He managed to make Prairie Village, KS change an ordinance that had been on the books for 50 years.

Now he has 3 signs in his yard. hee hee

He also is looking into a security system that will help out when the local freepers decide to "help" with his signs. He caught one and prosecuted the guy.
