I caught a huge murmur or sounds of disbelief when Obama said no lobbyist |
|
at all in his Administration. Was what he said not true?

1. I can't remember exactly who - but Obama does |
|
have former lobbyists in his administration. Perhaps they have been moved out by now, but I doubt it.
I wondered about the statement even before the murmurs. Just can't remember who they are - mostly finance - Orszag??

to his own policy in the first couple of months of his administration. I don't know how many since. Bottom line is that he looked them in the eye and lied. He just gave his opponents extra ammo to use against him when it wasn't necessary. He should not have even mentioned it. That is the kind of thing that could keep just one or two critical votes from passing healthcare.

5. I still don't see why working as a lobbyist should put one on a blackball list. |

10. DU is a little odd on that |
|
William J. Lynn, a former Raytheon lobbyist. "Bad lobbyist." Cecelia Munoz, a former lobbyist with the National Council of La Raza. "Good lobbyist."

7. Is there a difference between a lobbyist and someone who came to the WH directly from |
|
their industry? I think not.

12. I confess, I did voice a question to my TV set at that point in the speech. |
|
"WTF?" I sez. The TV set did not reply.
That statement was pretty artless on Pres. Obama's part, IMO, really setting himself up for criticism, cynicism. :(
