This coming from someone who was so gungo ho about having the trial there in the first place. :eyes:

It was a marked change from Mr. Bloomberg’s initial reaction to the news, just two months ago, that the trial would be held in Manhattan. ”It is fitting that 9/11 suspects face justice near the World Trade Center site where so many New Yorkers were murdered,” he said at the time.

And why did the billionaire mayor of NY change his mind? Because he was concerned about the safety of the citizens of this fair city. Pfft, yeah right. Try, his big money paisans in the real estate companies and interest groups were "concerned" about what it will do to the market in lower Manhattan. I think the real estate companies have done enough to destroy NYC more than any terror trial could ever hope to.

spending a billion on a trial. Bloomburg is already whining about the budget and threatening jobs in order to get union concessions besides he wants the Feds to foot the bill for the trial.

I bet that if the feds agree to pay all the costs Bloomberg will change their minds. Another aspect of this is that that the small business owners in the area, with the increased security, are worried they will lose a lot of their daily trade.

16. This is not the first time a high-profile terror trial was held in NY.

The blind sheik and 9 others who were responsible for the 1993 WTC bombing were all tried and convicted in NY. Why is this such a stumbling block now when we have done this in the past successfully? I don't get it.
