KO was just showing a clip of him on the Senate floor commenting on Alito's behavior, and he sounded kind of weak, shaky. Tell me I'm wrong, please.

I'm thinking it's almost Farewell to a Golden Era. So many of the good ones are getting up in years. True Gentlemen and Gentlewomen who have integrity and treat others with respect. Whose goal is to serve their constituents. The up and comers are of a different ilk. Sigh.

On the other hand, jerks like McCain are creeping up there, too.

7. I'm in my 70's and I can't believe how many of my favorite people

( public figures and personal friends)have died in the last 6 months.

I know that's the way it is but I just hope I'm not the last one standing.

Haven't heard anything to the contrary. Vermont, unfortunately, does have a Republican governor, although I don't have time to check at the moment if the governor has a right of appointment in case of a Senate vacancy. In any case, Leahy is almost certainly just fine.
