Republicans still saying deregulation creates jobs after their deregulation almost crashed
Our economy.

I find it unbelievable that they think letting banks speculate and leverage is a good thing. Can you imagine what the FDIC would look like if even just citi failed?

The bailout money is the true cost of what FDIC fees should look like if we allow entities holding government insured deposits to fail.

1. Regulation always creates jobs.
First people have to be hired to bring everything up to regulatory standard. Then others must be hired to inspect and assure those standards are maintained.

"Must fight the terrorists over there, or we'll be fighting them in Brunswick, Ohio."
"Peace through STRENGTH!1!"
"Taxation is theft (by thugs with guns)."
"The Invisible hand of the Free Market will correct itself."

"Supply Side! Supply Side! Laissez Faire!"

Yes, right now I'm watching regular guest Tom Donahue of the economically arch-right-wing U.S. Chamber of Commerce on that bastion of liberalism CNBC.

6. But the main way to creat jobs, according to republicans
is tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts. That always does it. That's why 7 million dollars went overseas. TAX CUTS for the companies who sent the jobs overseas. If this congress does not stop these tax breaks for these companies we should start our own organization and follow each and every democrat every place they go. Except to the bathroom.

10. They don't know what else to say.
They've been saying it for 30 years, +-.

Same as 'Tax + Spend = Dems' when its demonstrably not true. Rachel had a chart.

11. On The Money
They never understood what they were saying to begin with. First, they stated as fact, economic "truths" for which no data existed. Now that the data contradicts it, they can still say it. It doesn't matter because they never had any intention of actually proving it to be true. They believe it, even though they don't understand what the heck they're talking about.

15. Of *COURSE* deregulation creates jobs!
First, the 4+5 star restaurants have to hire new staff to replace the staff their wall-street guests complained about. Then moms and dads have to get 2nd and 3rd jobs to pay for the artificially jacked-up utility bills and skyrocketing A.R.M.

After that, 1000's of new jobs open up for collection agents.

Jeezz... always 'cup half empty' with you folks.

17. Deregulation - Code word for Privitization...allowing Corporate rip offs...
Like gee... let's DEREGULATE broadcasting... because it would be sooo much better if one big right-wing corporation (Clear Channel) owned all the radio stations in the United States.

That way.. we could do away with all that pesky local news and local information. We'll put every radio station in the country on one big satellite feed which will broadcast programs directly from the Pentagon and the RNC. Just think.. we could have Rush Limbaugh on every radio 24/7...

What a GREAT idea!

What it does is allow libertarian types to steal from the common ground and poison us in the process.
