16. Why does the President keep deluding himself that he can reach out to them?
The right wing through the Republican Party have declared war on democracy as created by our Constitution. Obama is the head of that government that they are clearly trying to destroy. He should be investigating them for treason instead.

23. They aren't partisans in the sense that they are Americans first and
Republicans second because those people who have put country before party have left the RNC a long time ago. They are subversives who are trying to overthrow our government by legal means by eroding our Constitution through the Supreme Court and any other dirty legal tricks that they can conjure until we won't recognize it any more. It's time for Americans to let the scales fall from their eyes to see what's really going on and start fighting back, and that includes our President. He is certainly a much smarter man than the last President but he's not so smart that he can't make errors in judgement.

22. He was invited.

I think it's a good move. He declines they say - we reached out and he rebuked us. (After he said he would welcome any ideas).

Now he can directly answer their bullshit. He's a pretty smart President.

26. He's still trying to be reasonable when that isn't their intent at all.
I'm sure they invited him to make an ass out of him and I am proud of him that he isn't allowing it to happen. However, wait and see what the right wing pundits have to say after and I'm sure they will twist everything he said out of context to make him look bad. It's a waste of his time IMHO when he could be working on the Senate on the health bill and the economy.

30. I wasn't talking about that but how he keeps trying to reach out to a
cabal of thieves and liars who want him and our democratic republic to fail in the fantasy he holds of compromise and bi-partisanship. The process of compromise involves finding your common ground and then working on reaching a consensus about the things you don't agree on or meeting in the middle, then you have bi-partisanship. What is happening is the 'party of no' obstructing him on anything and everything, even those things that they might have agreed on if a Republican President had suggested them, just because they regard the rest of our country as the enemy. They have declared war on the rest of us and particularly the President. When the asshole Savage suggests that the Speaker of the House be water boarded, he reflects the philosophy of the Republican Party leadership today. Never in our history have we approved of torture until now and we certainly never suggested our politicians be arrested and water boarded for doing their job. I have lived in third world countries and seen that type of stuff go on. I don't relish seeing it in my country and hope they my President has the leadership to fight this kind of incursion on our democracy.
